Today we share the pod summary of @B21Tv where host @DheerajShah_ interviews @ponderware team Brooks Boyd and community manager Anna Marie Privitere. Ponderware is the team behind MoonCats ππ , one of the hottest projects now.
π± Developer with an art background
π± Interested in helping people understand codes
π± Not part of the original Ponderware team that developed MoonCats
π± Helped the community, was recognised for his effort & invited officially to the team in 2021
π± Had 17 yrs of experience being a community manager in the video gaming space
π± Runs her own company
π± Always been interested in the mechanics of mining, started in 2018 but got serious around Mar 2021
π± Generative art NFT, but that term has not been coined yet at inception
π± Capped supply of 25,440 cats in total - all had been rescued
π± To mint it, will have to do proof of work first to solve a computational problem
π± Minting and adding to blockchain - rescuing
π± Buying from secondary markets - adopting
π± Proof of work to mint - searching π
π± Wrapping Mooncat with ERC 721 wrapper - Acclimatizing
π± Hodling and not selling - cuddling π«
π± Designed to be scarce - just black/white
π± Intended to be sold for profit to recoup costs, but there was a bug in the contract so the fees are burnt instead
π± The only ones who profited are the miners βοΈ who got the gas fees
π± Surge in interestπ₯ in 2021 because of NFT hitting high prices in mainstream media
π± NFT season started in Mar 2021
π± When an old project like MoonCats have been discovered to have not been fully minted, the whole supply was minted in 4 hrs
π± The community created lore to explain this
π± The 3 MoonCats rescued are nicknamed Covid Cats
π± 2 out of 3 wore face masksπ· , which were accessories made in their boutique
π± MoonCats are ERC-20 tokens, which predates the ERC-721 NFT standard
π± To be sold in marketplaces, ERC-721 wrapper is needed
π± MoonCats with official ERC-721 wrapper is called acclimated MoonCats
π± ERC-998 allows the cats to own other NFTs (not official yet)
π± Started because ERC-998 capabilities allow for this
π± Other projects have their rarity, and value, dependent on the type and number of accessories
π± There is no set rarity for different traits for MoonCats
π± Only ratio of genesis vs rescued cats is set
π± Allows anyone to easily create mini NFTs that a cat can put on and wear
π± Can limit the accessory to certain MoonCats traits or unique situations, creating interesting dynamics
π± Nearly 1000 items listed, but >90% done by community
π± Project "Sportsball" - sports league on the moon
π± Project "Deep Space" - another NFT in the MoonCats universe
π± Brooks mentioned it is quite exciting interacting with smart contracts in $ETH
π± Allows one to build on top of things π§±
π± @NiftyMuseum made an NFT came called @CudlFinance
π± Not developed by Ponderware team, they only provided support
π± Join the game with your MoonCat, feed them to raise their levels, pet them to earn $CUDL
π± $CUDL is spent on food and to take part in a racing game
π± Originally capped at 25,600, consisting of Genesis MoonCats not rescued by proof of work but released by the development team
π± But did not gain traction in earlier years, hence did not release subsequent rounds of Genesis cats
@B21Tv@DheerajShah_@ponderware@midnight426@amprivitere@NiftyMuseum@CudlFinance π± When MoonCats are rediscovered in Mar 2021, the community voted not to release the Genesis MoonCats
π± Private keys for these unreleased Genesis cats are destroyed
π± In the blockchain, there are still 120 cats available
π± These are the guardians and overseers in MoonCat lore
B:
π± It will be exciting to see NFT legos, where one project builds on top of another
π± NFT will be conversation starters π¨οΈ among strangers
AM:
π± Seeing the community growing and unleashing creativity
π± NFT NYC
π± First MoonCats meetup
Blockchain + Web3 is revolutionary, but what is limiting their potential to change the world are the challenges involved in indexing and accessing data on the blockchain itself. @ZettaBlockHQ aims to address this issue.

He discusses anthropology, Web3 and other subcultures, and many other interesting topics with @chaserchapman in this episode of On The Other Side π
Background
πΉ An anthropologist
πΉ Is an artist
πΉ A DAO contributor
πΉ Has a Substack, but itβs not really a newsletter, but a cultural report
Substack
πΉ Itβs more an anthropological collection of a subculture
πΉ Trying to record the why and the what behind the different projects
πΉ Important to have a birdβs eye view to see the connections
πΉ Is an obsessively curious person. Have always been searching for cool stuff
Today, I'll be sharing the book highlights of @peterthiel's Zero to One. Peter Thiel is a serial entrepreneur who helped to start up many companies, like @PayPal and @PalantirTech, and invested in Facebook.
If he has something to say about startups, I want to know. Read on π
There are 2 kinds of progress:
β’ Horizontal (1 to n)
β’ Vertically (0 to 1)
E.g. Horizontal progress is about getting existing products distributed to more places (globalization), while vertical progress is about coming up with new products (tech).
From the book's title, you should be able to deduce which is the better kind of progress. Going from zero to one will be hard, but the rewards will be way better than going from 1 to many.
π Look for companies that go from 0 to 1 instead of 1 to n.
πΉ People remember the year for all the terrible stuff that happened
πΉ Important to remember the positive events too (e.g. the merge)
πΉ The merge is a transaction inclusion time decrease
πΉ Have multiple zk-EVM implementations that will have a mainnet launch in 2023
πΉ @signinwitheth has seen massive gains in adoption
πΉ Cryptocurrency payments worked during the invasion of Ukraine
πΉ Have always recommended @KeePassXC or @Bitwarden:
πΈ KeePassXC: A completely offline tool. Reserved for extreme scenarios
πΈ Bitwarden: A secure password manager that synchronizes your password database across multiple devices
Now
πΉ Online password managers have advanced quite a bit
πΉ Every reputable password manager encrypts everything on your machine before it goes into the database
πΉ Does not recommend LastPass, 1Password, Dashlane
πΉ For people new to password managers, he recommends Bitwarden
