1 Simple Hack That Saves Me Thousands of $$$ And Hundreds Of Hours Per Year!!
Now that we have the cheesy headline out of the way, there is a mental model that I use that has been supremely helpful with procrastination and decision making.
👇
Habits are engrained by action. You do something once, it’s a higher probability that you’ll do it twice.
Twice leads to a higher probability of a 3rd time.
This is how habits are formed.
**Mentally extrapolate your decisions over a year timeframe or more**
When I decide to take an action, I imagine taking that action every day, week, or month. If this becomes a habit, how will this affect my spending, life, and time management.
Let’s look at some practical examples.
If I don’t feel up for leg day, I imagine what my body will…
look like after skipping for a year. Chicken leg guy or normal overweight American. If that’s not enough motivation to go to the gym, it’s usually enough to do some type of home workout.
Upgrading my dining room table? If I continuously fall into “keeping up with the Jones’”…
What will my finances or savings look like after a year or 5? It’s only a one time purchase! Until you realize that you will continuously be upgrading your 20+ pieces of furniture. This adds up to thousands per year that could be invested. But muh EGO!
Weekly brunch with the in-laws?
Hundreds of hours wasted per year that could better be spent growing an online business.
Grocery shopping 2X per week instead of once or every other week?
Hundreds of hours yearly wasted.
I’m not saying every decision I make absolutely maximizes my time and money. We’re all human. Sometimes I do need new furniture. Sometimes I do go to brunch at the in-laws. Sometimes I do skip workouts.
But it’s less than most people in my position.
All of your decisions and habits compound.
THAT is why you don’t have enough time to start your side business.
