Midlands has it own issues. In the last election it performed badly because of people who believe they are close to @edmnangagwa. These include July Moyo, Owen Mudha and Mupereri. Thus Midlands is at its weakest because of these people.
They take people's mines, run violent gangs, machete gangs etc. In Shurugwi they have removed Deputy DDC Mupeta, District Chair Tau was removed, now the chairman is being removed. You don't unilaterally remove elected people. It's a mistake as the electorate becomes stubborn.
In that province Jorum Gumbo remains the only stable and resolute leader. Chairman McKenzie has been harassed also. Only that he is strong. However they are supporting Mukaratigwa who is fighting the young Chairman of Tongogara RDC, Njovana.
In Hurungwe North they have put Mukupe against Ability Gandawa who is there already. Mukupe is not even there but is in Harare and is not doing anything. Thus these people are destroying the party through their actions.
In Gokwe they're fighting Samambwa. In Kwekwe they can't win. Matambanadzo ended up winning because of a vote split. Fortunately Masvingo remains untouchable because Matuke& Chadzamira are strong in supporting ED. That is why Mugabe respected them as they have people's support.

1/16 The 2023 elections are an interesting proposition in light of what happened to the two main candidates, @nelsonchamisa and @edmnangagwa during the 2018 elections. In this thread I only focus on the President, and will talk of Chamisa later.
2/16 Whereas @chamisa had more votes than his party, showing the strength of his candidacy, @edmnangagwa had more than 20% less votes than his party @ZANUPF_Official. It was a strange result which calls for scrutiny of every province, district and ward in the party.
3/16 These differences in figures between party and presidential candidate, are striking discrepancies which speak to bigger issues which each of the parties needs to deal with before we begin the 2023 polls.
One thing I will always be grateful about from former President Mugabe's time was the empowerment drive and ideals that he had. He allowed and facilitated for many of us to be empowered and have the kind of lives that we have today. It's unfortunate that he overstayed in power.
Despite those blemishes, his legacy has some positives. He drove the education agenda after independence that was a marvel across the continent. The infrastructure drive was also great for over 20 years and we were a model for many upcoming African countries.
As a politician I will always cherish the moments I spent interacting with him when I was Mash West Provincial Chairman. Later I will share those moments. Once a month we would meet for at least two hours. If you met Mugabe one to one you would grasp what kind of man he was.
Here are some political dynamics at play in @ZANUPF_Official-PF. In Manicaland, Chinamasa has teamed up with Monica to fight Oppah. Oppah's ally is the now late Minister Gwaradzimba. She was very strong, educated& a war vet. So Oppah doesn't have a strong ally anymore.
The same team has ganged up in Mash West with Chris Mutsvangwa now the most senior Politburo member. They have teamed with Ziyambi to have Chinamasa, the acting PC, to endorse an ally Abbiah Muchere as the acting Chairperson, following Ziyambi's elevation to the Politburo.
This sets them up perfectly so that in Manicaland Monica becomes the most senior female leader and in Mash West Mutsvangwa assumes the same position. This means in the future any party or national vacancy the requires a senior leader they are both best placed to occupy it.
Now for Chris Mutsvangwa's political debacle. He visited the late General Edzai Chimonyo& told him that they should remove VP Chiwenga and Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri because they were not good. He, Mutsvangwa would get the VP position as the leader of the Zezuru.
He would later replace ED. Unfortunately he was recorded and the chat reported to the leaders. That is why the guy has been so silent& stupid when he speaks. The accusation against @mdczimbabwe over the arresting of War Vets is an example of him seeking to court favour with ED.
The man is dead in the water, politically, and has been since his shellacking in Norton where he got 4000 votes against my near 17, 000. This was despite his huge support from the Chinese community whom he has ties with since his Ambassadorial posting there years back.
A country is only built if a leader is surrounded by people who have critical thinking capacity& can interrogate his policies& actions for progress. Critiquing policies shouldn't be generally redacted& framed as personal attacks.
Now if a leader is surrounded by people whose expertise is all about gossip it's a problem. They can only give what they have and are. The result is that this will be seen in the actions and policies.
This war veterans issue has triggered a lot and revealed how they need to liberate themselves. Govt has failed to look after them, failing to deliver basic such as healthcare since 1980.
Another dry, cut& paste job as @ZANUPF_Official has appointed Sandra Ndebele as their Bulawayo representative for Young Women in Economic Development. However, the abiding idea behind the move makes the whole thing pitiful. It’s a clear scramble for popularity& youth support.
The move exhibits a low regard for the Zimbabwean electorate’s mentality. People can now see beyond these platitudinous actions which seek to harness and transfer popularity from a different sphere into the party’s community of politics.
Beyond the few who are swayed by such dramas, people simply need answers to challenges in their lives. I was in Zambia two weeks before elections& the atmosphere on the ground was strange. They were very few posters of the then opposition @UPNDYouthLeague candidate, Hichilema.
