Hardly any talk of anything else (except for Govt handles).

Ofc if you're oppressed cos of your identity, it's only natural that you'll want to speak about it.
It's sheer privilege to suggest identity isn't relevant, when we see so much identity-based discrimination.

Discrimination is at multiple levels.
There's deep-rooted discrimination in society.
There are discriminatory laws, reflecting society's mindset.
Yes, this is a battle that MUST be fought.
But there are other battles too.
Like poverty, lack of healthcare, lack of education.

Uplifting the living standards of the poorest of the poor might not seem such a priority for us, cos WE are not in those dire straits.
But for those who ARE (and there are millions) their concern is about how to get through the day.

I'd like us to discuss much more about healthcare deficit in this country.

What it does and doesn't do.
Why so many are out of its net?

Just like it's (identity) privilege to be blind to identity-based discrimination, it's also (class) privilege to be blind to the suffering of the poorest of the poor.
A sensitive, and sensible, person would recognise, and care about, both.

Yet I find lots of people here talking abt identity-based discrimination, but barely talking about economic suffering of the poor.
Ironically, many of the discriminated groups are actually amongst the poorest of the poor.
So if you work on poverty alleviation, they benefit too.
