Well, I was only able to play it for a half day or so before it started crashing (and it was late and I didn't feel like troubleshooting)
but Watchdogs 3 aka Legion is gorgeous - they captured London well.

So, you start by building a whole team with different skills. /
I did Campaign mode. Police drones are a HUGE pain in the ass in this game omg they are everywhere, watching with facial recognition, etc AND they can shoot... A terrifying future indeed. /
Some cars on the road are empty (self-driving) and when you get in, cars have an “auto-drive mode” which stays in a lane and makes turns for you if you're in a turning lane. It follows speed limits and drives on the correct side of the road lol. Virtual Tesla, no GPS /
I played with sound off because I was watching tv and there are these super handy audio descriptions on the side, in addition to subtitles - “drone noises” “footsteps” etc with a directional arrow >> VERY helpful even if you have sound on. /
Hack mode isn't a toggle anymore, Instead, you have to constantly press V to scan around you for hackable things. Annoying IMO and makes solving the electronic circuit puzzles way harder. Boo. /
Because the “team” you build has different skills, weapons, and perks, you don't specialize in things like car hacking or social engineering anymore. It's... different. Basically, you pick who you want to play for a specific mission and recruit people with skills you want. /
All in all, it has been fun to play. Some interesting new challenges and format changes.

I'm going to try to fire it up again before the free weekend is over because I don't know if I'll buy it or not? WatchDogs 2 was (so far) better for me. ❤️
I clearly need a new gaming PC - I have a good eGPU (CoreX w/Geforce works great with Mac!) but it’s time for an upgrade

I went back and played WD2 for a bit today since WDL was crashing, and it is much clearer what they were trying to do with this release /
What do I mean? WD2 was about the threats of a connected society aka IoT, and the repercussions and dangers of social media

It came out at a time when this was not fully understood by the general public /
@watchdogsgame has a different message, including:

- ‘malicious uses for autonomous enforcement infrastructure and drones’ are terrifying
- no one is an island; hackers exist and work as a team
- daily, we exist on the edge of disaster
- hackers want to make the world BETTER /
Last point is the reason the media keeps getting it wrong

*glances at @LastWeekTonight*

Hackers want to make the world better for everyone

Criminals have other motivations

Hackers are NOT de facto criminals

I won't expound on this again but SRSLY:
It is offensive to us when you lump us in with the scum of the Internet

We may walk the same forest sometimes, but not the same path

There is absolutely a Venn diagram of hackers and criminals, but using the terms “interchangeably” is just wrong and and uninformed

Dearest gamers, hackers, InfoSec, STEM: If you get the opportunity to enter “alternate text” for images on a post, PLEASE take the extra *less-than-a-minute* to type out the alt text to make it accessible to more people!❤️

Also, ALL DEVELOPERS: Definitely implement “alternate text” for images in your UX!!!

IMG ALT used to be standard in HTML back when we were browsing in Lynx, so surely it can't be that hard with social media!

Yeah no I'm sorry I just don't believe a high ranking CIA officer lives in a building near DC with frosted glass doors that have no peephole and no camera at the door lol nope

My gripes about fiction are weird, aren't they?

@netflix #messiah
I *do* however completely believe the boxes everywhere, sitting on the floor, and nothing on the walls because that is literally every tech person I know lmao
Look I realize I'm watching a complete work of fiction and am suspending disbelief about a supposed messiah from a supposed god but anyone who knows anything about North American telephone systems knows you only dial 10 digits to call Canada @2600 #NANP

@iamjohnoliver @LastWeekTonight Dear John,

1) Hi ♥️ I adore you

2) We wish to correct your statements in the @LastWeekTonight ransomware ep:

Some hackers are criminals
Some criminals are hackers

Not all hackers are criminals
Not all criminals are hackers

You use the terms interchangeably/incorrectly
@iamjohnoliver @LastWeekTonight You literally demonstrate this by talking about how people do not need any skill to implement ransomware

Hackers have skill. Hackers have creativity and curiosity. Hackers are not all bad people. Many/most of us want to make the world BETTER

You are using ‘hackers’ as a slur
@iamjohnoliver @LastWeekTonight And further, phrases like “white hat hackers” and “black hat hackers” are rooted in racism, inaccurate, and out of date

The media uses phrases mistakenly as interchangeable far too often, and we are trying to fix that.

We are not criminals. We are not attackers. We are hackers.
