Mammootty turns 70.. Looking at the real special "Mammootty skills" that make him such a fantastic actor and listing my favorite performance in each category.... These are the reasons why I have kept adoring the actor more as years passed.

#HappyBirthdayMammookka
Skill - To nail any dialect

Favorite - Pranchiyettan and the Saint

Not only does Mammootty brings in such difference to this portrayal than the 400+ movies he has done, he just becomes every inch of the Thrissur based business man speaking the dialect to astounding perfection.
Skill - To portray father on screen brilliantly

Favorite - Pappayude Swantham Appoos

Perhaps only second to Thilakan while portraying the warmth and affection of a father on screen, who can forget the line - "Aarokke paranjaalum Gopaa nee mathram parayaruthu .."
Skill - Mastering the investigation genre

Favorite - The Truth

The buildup to the iconic "She is a man" twist sequence and how the actor presents pieces in front of us one after another shows his supreme confidence in having nailed this investigative genre like few others have
Skill - To become the character he plays

Favorite - Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar

In his 3 National awards, Mammootty won it twice for playing real life characters - Basheer/Chandu in 1989 and Dr. Ambedkar in 2000. This is what sets Mammootty apart even in the league of great actors
Skill - Shouldering the action thriller genre as a Superstar

Favorite - Dhruvam/New Delhi

Its tough to choose between the 2 Joshiy movies - New Delhi or Dhruvam, but Mammootty's aura and dominant screen presence means these two movies have great repeat value even today !
Skill - To bring an audience to tears

Favorite - Kaazcha

Numerous movies to prove this skill and yet the most haunting experience has been Madhavan walking out of the camp in Kaazcha's climax in the hope that he can meet Kochundapri again, when the audience knows it wont happen
Skill - Dialogue Delivery

Favorite - King

How do you make an entire movie watchable and perhaps repeat watchable, all thanks to its lead actor's ability to deliver dialogues in a pace, style and tone that doesn't come easy to many actors ? You have to watch King to realize it.
Skill - Consistency in the offbeat genre

Favorite - Peranbu

When he gets slapped by the NGO officer, he sits there with a shock and then explains to her why he made that strange request. In 2019, I realized I had become a bigger fan of the actor than I had been all those years.
Skill - To keep re-inventing himself as the years pass

Favorite - Rajamanikyam

At the age of 54, your skills start to decline, you prepare for retirement. Whereas Mammootty re-invents his comic side brilliantly, shows how he is a master of dialects and gives us Rajamanikyam !
Skill - To bring his tender side to make romance work

Favorite - Kandukondain Kandukondain

Mammootty may be known most for his tough roles. But he could amaze you bringing his tender side when portraying romance. I lost count to the number of times I have watched these scenes.
Skill - To portray a ruthless villain on screen

Favorite - Munnariyippu/Vidheyan

He has given some of Malayalam Cinema's greatest heroes. He has also given some of our greatest villains .In the image is two of iconic frames of Malayalam Cinema. That wily smile in Munnariyippu!

Prithviraj's biggest asset is that you can't predict what he's upto next. He could switch between genres or surprise you handling any field of Cinema. He could be hero, villain or second fiddle

A look back through years of a fine career @PrithviOfficial

#HappyBirthdayPrithviraj
At age of 20, in his debut year, he may be raw and little unpolished. But nevertheless he shows range straight away, acting in a romance like Nandanam and action movie like Stop Violence
At age of 23, Prithviraj nails the sauve and soft-spoken villain in Kana Kandein, an act that makes me a fan for the first time. Debuting in Tamil, the actor looked damn confident in each frame of the movie.

I have to admit I have become a bigger fan of @mammukka recently than I used to be before. What amazes me is his consistency as a performer across these 35-40 years and an undying passion to keep improvising

How Mammootty found ways to remain consistent over years-A long #Thread
At age of 30, Mammooty had won state award for second best actor in Ahimsa
At age of 31, his act as a police officer in Yavanika perhaps changed the way Malayalam actors used to approach Police roles. He would then go onto play police roles of umpteen variations in years to come.

What happened behind the scenes of #Mamangam:

#Thread
"Mom, Aunt - I have decided to go and meet Mammookka to learn more about acting before Mamangam shooting begins. I also heard he has the skill to jump 1 km up in sky while doing stunts beating all laws of gravity. I want to learn that too" Image
" Dear Unni - Do you want to travel that far to learn that. Look at me. You have to just flex your face muscles, when you emote." Image

I thought the likes of Rajnikanth and Vijay portray the most perfect larger than life heroes on screen in South India. Until I saw Pattabhiraman.

Read through the pics on why Pattabhiraman is one of the most well written mass characters of this decade.

#Thread
Pattabhiraman is a caterer by profession. It gives him the opportunity to showcase his dancing prowess during marriages ( though the bride and groom feel like killing him)
Pattabhiraman is 50+ years old, but still an eligible bachelor. He has seen around 43 girls (He keeps boasting about this count through the movie). But as obvious, none of the proposals have worked.
