Do you know about kodavas warriors?
Kodavas are a warrior race of karnataka which defeated Tipu Sultan and his father Hyder Ali 31 times in 25 years.
And one thing is amazing that this race gave us two chief of Army staff
Field Marshal Sir K.M. Cariappa and General K.S. Thimayya

In 1785, Tipu Sultan, new ruler of Mysore, marched into Kadagu, but driven out by Kodava warriors. Tipu Sultan sent another army of 15,000 men, but were defeated by 4000 Kodavas at battle of Ulagulli.

After Tipu Sultan’s army was defeated heroically several times by Kodava warriors, helpless Sultan committed treachery. He invited Kodavas on the pretext of making peace. That was when Kodavas made blunder of trusting Tipu Sultan’s words.

Tipu used treachery - he promised to make peace with Kodavas and invited them for a peace talk at Talakkaveri.

But Kodava delegation was arrested and their 85,000 followers and their family members were forcibly converted to Ijlam.

This is the reality of ijlam.

Tipu ordered his army to kill every single Kodava man they could lay hand on and enslave their women and children.
Terrible atrocities were committed mass rape, enslavement of women, forcible conversions, destruction of temples, slaughter of cows, wholesale burning of villages

In 1788 VIR Rajendra escaped from jail with his family by the help of Pazhassi Raja Now he and his men launched a campaign against Tipu and Tipu sent Ghulam Ali to deal with him but in the battle of Heggala Ghulam Ali got defeated.

Again Tipu sent Mysore Army and battle of Kushalnagar was fought but for Tipu result was the same.
In 1790 Tipu sent a large army under Buranuddin and seond battle kf kushalnagar was fought but for the frustrated Tipu result was the same.

Last time Tipu sent again army under Kader khan to defeat Vir Rajendra and battle of Mullusoge was fought again result was the same Tipu got defeated,Now Rajendra captured Mercara and with this Kodagu was Permanently free of Tipu sultan.
