From a quick skim of the #ScotPfG, there doesn't seem much on transport that hadn't been published before.

However, lots of useful commitments made recently -- and comprehensive plan for delivering 20% road traffic reduction target will be crucial.
From #SustainableTransport perspective, the most important commitment in #ScotPfG is to reduce car kilometres by 20% by 2030.

This was initially announced in December 2020's #ClimateChangePlan update.
@TransformScot has campaigned for #TrafficReduction for 20 years, but we've seen nothing concrete from @scotgov or @transcotland in the 9 months since.

Exactly 100 months left until January 2030. The clock's ticking on that one.
Pleased that #ScotPfG restates that at least £320 million or 10% of the total transport budget to be spent on #ActiveTravel by 2024-25.

This was a win for @scottishgreens in its agreement with @scotgov.

It's something that @TransformScot has been campaigning for for a decade.
The #ScotPfG restates commitment to over £500m in #BusPriority infrastructure.

This was first announced in 2019 PfG. Investment has been modest since.

No mention in PfG of 'managed motorways' (bus priority on Glasgow motorways). Zero progress since 2019 PfG by @transcotland.
#ScotPfG restates "remove the majority of diesel buses from public transport by the end of 2023".

This first appeared in @theSNP 2021 Holyrood manifesto, and surprised many folk then.

Very ambitious, but great if it can be done. Will need a lot of investment in #ElectricBuses.
#ScotPfG restates "£5bn" rail decarbonisation programme, with a 2035 target.

Ambition is good, but details remain vague.

Unclear whether this is capex only, or includes revenue. Previous @scotgov ministers have made some pretty dubious claims here, so more clarity required.
Some people are very happy that @scotgov has "begun the process of bringing ScotRail into public ownership and control", as featured in #ScotPfG.

The first thing that has happened here is for @scotgov ministers to instruct @ScotRail to cut services. Be careful what you wish for.
#ScotPfG continues commitment to "phasing out the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030".

This commitment was first made some years ago.

It would be interesting to get update on progress here. Recent @transenv research suggests SUVs are growing faster than BEVs.
The commitment to introduce free bus travel to young people aged under 22 is very welcome.

This resulted from a previous deal between the @scottishgreens and the @scotgov.
The #FairFaresReview came out of new @scottishgreens deal with the @scotgov.

Sounds good. But will need to deliver big changes.

Despite 'war on the motorist' rubbish, the past decade has seen car use become cheaper & public transport more expensive.

The #ScotPfG commits to "providing a range of low and zero carbon transport initiatives with £287 million investment through to 2025-26 from our Future Transport Fund".

Perhaps @patrickharvie can explain how this fund works? We've always found it deeply opaque.
According to the FM, "Tackling the #ClimateEmergency is a moral and economic imperative."

But not enough of an imperative to actually stop building new traffic-generating roads.

Yes, #ScotPfG commits to urgently "progress the dualling of the A9".

There's your #COP26 legacy.
The @scottishgreens agreement with @scotgov led to a scaling-back of the A96 dualling commitment.

The language around new road-building is also now somewhat better as a result.
But note new commitment to "assess the evidence base for fixed links to islands and remote communities".

That sounds like new road-building to me.

It's time for an overhaul of @transcotland. Its expertise lies in road-building; it's not fit for delivering #SustainableTransport.
And worryingly, it's those road-builders at @transcotland that Scottish Ministers are relying on to deliver the "direction of transport investment in Scotland for the next 20 years" -- STPR2.

It just doesn't have the expertise to deliver demand management & traffic reduction.
