A resolution against CAA act was passed by @arivalayam govt in the TN assembly today. The resolution talks about the Act not being in consonance with our secular principles. We will get a couple of facts straight before understanding the political drama behind ‘secularism’
India was always a ‘secular’ country & practising a very unique way of life that was fully in consonance with the dharma of the land. The word ‘secular’ was inserted in Indian constitution in 1976 during emergency & the concept of dividing voters on religious lines started then!
Congress & it’s allies have taken the word ‘Secularism’ to extremes and now this word is synonymous with ‘appeasement politics’ like wearing a particular religious symbol on certain occasions and thereby trying to pass on the message of image management & not genuine assimilation
CAA Act is about giving an opportunity to illegal immigrants from three Muslim countries - Pakistan, Bangladesh & Afghanistan who are in our country now because of severe religious persecution there. This is applicable to Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Parsi, Christain & Buddhist communities
This Act is applicable to all of the immigrants who have entered into our country prior to 2014! It is not against any Muslim or other religious minority who are part of this country for years!
