1/ Important briefing from #Covax today on vaccinating the not-so-rich bits of the world (most of it). There is good and bad news....
2/ Because I'm a journo, let's start with the bad: Covax expects to get about 25% LESS vaccine in by the end of the year than initially forecast. That's a shortfall of 440m doses. 
3/ It should be noted that the main reasons for this are technical rather than nefarious - the devastating 2nd wave in India, production difficulties, regulatory hurdles...
4/ On the bright side, Covax still expects to access 1.425 billion doses in 2021.
That's enough to enough to protect 20% of the population, or 40% of all adults, in all 92 economies with the exception of India.

➡️Manufacturers honour their commitments
➡️High vax nations give up their place in the queue for new deliveries to Covax
➡️ Rich countries increase donations of spare doses

6/ If the new forecasts hold, Covax will hit 2bn doses in Q1 2022.
And by the end of next year, almost 6 bn doses will have been distributed.
If that happens, history will record that we early 21st century humans vaccinated the world within 2 years of #COVID19 breaking out.
