So in this post, I’ll teach you how to win back as many customers as possible using a win-back email automation/flow.
What’s a Winback flow?
It is a series of emails that encourage lapsed customers to re-engage with your brand.
This flow will have 3 emails:
Email #1
This email should be a short light touchpoint.
Include a select few products, three to six of either your best-selling products or latest releases.
It's also a good idea to offer an incentive to your lapsed customers.
A 10%OFF + urgency discount should work
Email #2
This email is just a reminder to your customers about the offer from the first email.
You can add more and different products and make it longer than your 1st one, allowing you to provide more detail.
Make sure this email is as engaging as possible.
Email #3
For your third email, you want to remind your audience that this is the last chance to take your offer.
And can also work as a sunset email if you include a prominent unsubscribe link.
Having one is both a legal requirement and the best way to prevent unengaged subscribers from hurting your deliverability — it is always better for someone to unsubscribe than it is for them to not engage with your messages or mark it as spam.
And that’s it if you want you can add 2 more emails:
A 4th one offering a larger discount and a 5th offering the last chance to get the larger discount.
Also, you can get as complex as you want, creating different split triggers for different types of customers.
For example, you might want to have a special win-back flow or segment for your VIP customers or customers who have spent X amount of money at your store.
