1/ We are happy to announce that in association with @AncientKraken, @CardanoDan & @ReliableStaking, we’ll be launching the first Art NFTs with smart contract capabilities on Cardano, shortly after the Alonzo hardfork, on September 12.
The “Icons” collection.
@AncientKraken@CardanoDan@ReliableStaking 2/
Over the past weeks, we have worked closely with The @AncientKraken on crafting, what will be, the first smart contract on Cardano to pay residuals (i.e. royalties) to artists on resales of their works.
3/ The @AncientKraken a.k.a. Quinn was part of the first cohort to complete the Plutus Pioneers program and is a 2 time successful #Catalyst proposer.
4/ This will be the first iteration of the contract, that’s based on a compile first, trust second approach and will require technical expertise to execute, as such it will be entirely optional.
5/ Apart from its functional capability, we want this series of NFTs to serve as a historical artifact, marking the moment smart contract capabilities arrived on the Cardano mainnet.
6/ But this is not just a celebratory series, the NFTs will contain in their metadata an actual functioning smart contract, written by one of the Cardano community’s trusted developers.
7/ In order to prevent “the click wars” that we’ve seen in the CNFT space, with drops selling out in minutes (sometimes, possibly to bots) we want to enable everyone with us in the Cardano community to participate in this event and own a piece of Cardano history.
8/ As such, we have taken the decision to lock the collection based on time, instead of quantity - 3 Cardano epochs.
After 3 epochs the policy will lock and no more NFTs will ever be minted again - marking your participation in this pivotal moment in Cardano history.
9/ However, we want to maintain the individuality of each piece, so all NFTs will be numbered and served in sequential order. If you’re interested in acquiring a low serial number it may be worthwhile to mint your NFT early, on September 12th, or shortly after.
10/ The collection, entitled “Icons”, will feature portrayals of Cardano’s most important namesake figure, Ada Lovelace, Gerolamo Cardano, and Mary Shelly.
Keeping the sale based on a time limit alone is probably the best thing we could have done for exclusivity.
There have only been 587 tokens minted so far and that includes the ones for the giveaways and the team.
3/ We wanted this collection to be about sharing the moment with the Cardano community, not only as a celebration but by actually including a 100% functional smart contract that has been run on the Cardano mainnet shortly after the Alonzo hardfork event.
The art consists of 3 pieces:
“Ada Lovelace - The Enchantress of Numbers”
“Mary Shelley - Burn”
“Gerolamo Cardano - Hypocycloid”
They will be available in 3 different tiers - Cardano - 25 $ADA, Mary - 50, Ada - 75.
2/ The smart contract code & all the info about it will be identical in all the NFTs.
The artwork will be the difference.
Each piece will feature a common, uncommon & rare version. (common versions depicted above)
The distribution:
Common: 95%
Uncommon: 4.9%
Rare: 0.1%
3/ The NFTs will be served in a sequential order & the rarer versions will be randomly dispersed in the sequence of common images.
We want to make the NFTs available to everyone in the Cardano community who wants a commemorative token by which to remember this moment in time.
1/ We have partnered with Project Catalyst IdeaFest and @CatalystSwarm to recognize and reward the best presentations in the first edition of the festival. 104 attendees voted for their top proposal presentations and we had 3 winners with 14 votes each.
@CatalystSwarm 2/ The winners have received the preliminary award of a @trybbles NFT to recognize the excellent presentation of their Project Catalyst proposals.
We plan to extend the award system, so this is just a preliminary recognition.
3/ This has been the first iteration of what we hope will become an evolving and long-lasting process.
Thank you everyone for being involved and committed!
