(1/4) FINAL weekend post from me on Bounds Green people and their views on the possible #LTN. I’m very excited as I managed to track down the elderly man with the trolley from Friday night!! He’s called Brian Moore and he’s 86. He’s lived in Bounds Green for… 82 years…!
(2/4) He went to Bounds Green Infant School when he was 5- in 1939, just when WW2 started. He can remember hearing doodlebugs overhead. He had a shop on Myddleton Road called ‘George D Moore’ that sold men’s clothes, that he took it over from his dad. He loves it round here.
(3/4) I showed people this photo, and my neighbour Shaun who grows amazing Hollyhocks, recognised the woman. He told me to find Helen who lives in the ‘white house’ on the next road. I knocked on all the white houses and eventually found Helen, and she rang Brian.

Met up with some of the team today to plan our @Bowes_Park GARDENING CLUB!! With the very inspirational gardener and rewilder Jonathan Dowley… He gave up a career in the city to retrain, and has a very simple message…. We must just PLANT MORE TREES 🌳 🌳🌳
It’s impossible to walk down the street with him without him saying… ‘See you could have a tree here, and one here… and one there!’ He’s a tree fanatic… we need more Jonathan’s in the world!!!
All tools will be provided… with @AnnSummerhayes and @KariKoonin. Big thanks to the @Bowes_Park for funding this…

(1/4) Re #LTN’s, I’ve heard a lot of people say: ‘But what about disabled people? They need to be able to drive…!’ as if all disabled people are against LTNs. But this just isn’t true. Take my lovely neighbour @SalliBh for example…
(2/4) Salli’s here with son Jesse, grand-daughter Tilly and greyhound Phaen. She’s hugely passionate about having an LTN round here. She said that rat-runners have been speeding so fast, she has trouble getting across the road quick enough…
(3/4) And has had some terrifyingly close encounters. She’d also like her grand-daughter Tilly to be able to ride a bike round here, but doesn’t think it’s currently safe…. Her son Jesse says that yes, he might have to drive a longer route, but it’s worth it to know that…

See thread from @SarahJ_Berry below- so true…. This elderly chap last night, who must have been 80-odd, was happily chatting away while walking down the middle of the road with his trolley. Apparently the pavements are much too bumpy… he would love quieter roads… #LTN
I was terrified about him on this corner bless him! They shoot round at 65MPH!

(1/3) A local Guerrilla gardener just excitedly sent me this article below saying… ‘This is what I want to doooo!’ Great piece on post-covid cities, and how the pandemic woke us up to the ‘overlooked resource of our immediate neighbourhood’…So true… ImageImage
(3/3) Have you all got to know your neighbours better? During the first lockdown, we did ‘Tea at 3’ every day on the pavement… we realised how much of a good chat can be had with a bit of shouting! Someone suggested ‘Gin by the Bin’… Benches would have been 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
