I feel very compelled to call out something that came out of the Tennessee Republican caucus this morning.
A Democratic candidate was accused of rape right before Election Day. It sucks for many, many reasons, but most of all for the accuser. Normal people want to see people who assault women brought to justice. timesfreepress.com/news/local/sto…
The first and best thought the House Republican staff and representatives had today was that this would be an excellent chance to accuse Gloria Johnson of being soft on rape. It sounded almost celebratory.
The reason they hate this particular Democrat so much is that she has been extremely vocal about David Byrd, a former high school basketball coach and now state representative accused of assaulting students in his care.
Every single person who ignores what he did is a monster, and the House Republican caucus seems to delight in the way they have completely ignored what seems like unspeakable acts beyond doubt.
Every election I’ve watched them send absolute garbage to voters in her district, painting their rep as a witch or whatever lazy thing they think of, and promising them no material improvement to their lives.
I’m really honored to have worked with Rep. Johnson the past few campaigns, and in my work I’ve come across multiple people with a story about how Gloria helped them. Sometimes they cry.
You can’t say that for most of the cavemen, slimeballs and lazy morons who are in charge of Tennessee right now.
So that’s the thread. Actual monsters run the state, and they were monsters today.
