Please pause and read this good news from Canada:

Starting April 1, 2022, international students who graduate from one of four long-standing New Brunswick private career colleges, and who have studied in one of 19 identified occupations, will be
able to apply to the Provincial Nominee Program, allowing them to work and live in the province while they wait for permanent residency.

The participating institutions are:

Atlantic Business College;
Eastern College;
McKenzie College; and
Oulton College.
N.B: They are private colleges, so you cannot work immediately after school, but you can apply for permanent resident immediately after school using PNP.
“We are excited that we can help retain more international students by opening up an innovative pathway that is made for New Brunswick,” said Arlene Dunn, the minister responsible for Opportunities NB.
“With the increased competition for skilled labour, the potential to transition international students into permanent residents is crucial.”

A great Personal Statement/SOP should have about 5/ 6 paragraphs.

Paragraph 1: Introduce your problem statement and connect it to why you want to study that course.

Paragraph 2: Talk about your educational background, and your undergrad research experiences, and how it has
prepared you for the proposed course.

Paragraph 3: Talk about your leadership, volunteering, and other extracurricular activities. It will be good if these experiences are connected to your intended course.
Paragraph 4: Talk more about your research interest and mention the supervisor you have contacted(This is very important). Explain why you want to work with the person. Be specific about your research interest.

TIPS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS.

If you know any undergraduate student, send this tweet to them.

They should make sure they do all of these before they graduate if they are looking at scholarship abroad:

1. Make sure they graduate with atleast a 2:1 or Upper credit .
This makes life easier.

Ofcourse, life does not end if you have a Lower grade.

You will only need to do more work.
2. If they are assigned supervisor before their final year, they should make sure they discuss with their supervisor before going for IT.

They should reiterate the fact that they want a PUBLISHABLE project, and they are willing to do anything to get this done.

How to Apply for Financial Aid in Coursera

Hello guys,

I have said consistently here that MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) are good tools for anyone interested in Grad school.

These categories of people need it:

1. People whose intending Grad school course is not related
to their present experience or undergrad.

2. People who want updates about the latest trends in their research area.

3. People interested in knowing the latest tools/software in their research areas.

Anyone who has a certificate in MOOCs can use it as part of their
continuing education or even research experience.

However, the issue is that most of these courses are paid for. How do you apply for financial aid?

Let's use coursera as an example.

Step 1: coursera.org. Create an account if you don't have. Login again.

A General Note on Scholarship Application

Many of you have sent dms to me asking for scholarship info. Let me make some general statements about Scholarship Applications.

1. When you see people post success stories about scholarships and admissions, know that they have been
through many failures. One success is just enough to cancel I million failures. So, it's important that you ask them about their journey, more importantly about their failures.
2. Don't expect that you must be successful in every scholarship application. Personally, my failures in this scholarship journey are more than successes. Scholarship is not meant for the most intelligent. It is for the resilient, dogged, and smart. So, be prepared to fail.
