i have been thinking about this all day and have nothing to say about the historical accuracy but

this is just fucking hilarious. like this man, in this outfit, saying *this*. Just, jesus. So funny.
like he knew he was gonna say that on this very show and so he put his most Rolling Stone Commentary Giver outfit on and he popped himself back in that chair and perched that knee right up and god damn it, he said it.
and his friend is like "you have convinced me of this" like "oh holy shit here we go with this" and everyone just sits back and is like yep he's going for it and he just kept on doing it
like in a room full of white men whose living is made expressing dissatisfaction he just

he did that

MY PIPES ARE ACTUALLY FINE AND THE PLUMBER FROM YESTERDAY WASNT EVEN LICENSED.

No joke, the plumbing shop I called to give me a second opinion is so mad that the man called the plumber from yesterday in front of me and told him he was filing a complaint with the plumbers board.
Like they rolled in 45 minutes after arriving and said "Your pipes are fine and they are working now," and I looked at them with such shock that they were like "Did someone tell you your pipes weren't working?" and then I showed them a bill for almost 20 thousand dollars.
And then the guy made me pull up the Texas plumbers board website and type the guys number from his card in, and he wasn't there. And then they sat there and looked at the quote together, and then they decided they were not going to let this stand.

i have received a plumbing quote for more than i have spent on every car that i have ever owned

how is your day going
it is on days like these i am grateful to have a brother in the pipefitters union, whose brothers in welding and plumbing have informed me that this man is full of shit but that it will still cost a lot of money

praise be to the tradesmen
and a happy wednesday to them and only them, and certainly not to the person who installed a variety of cast iron pipes beneath my house in 1958.

The overall substance of this thread is people are shitty to rural Americans. That I made a joke and one of the tweets does not take away from that, and then I bought 17 acres of land in a town you don’t know about doesn’t mean I want the benefits of urban life in a rural area.
Internet and a paved road are not benefits. They are basic things. Rural communities should be able to have this and live in more expensive areas if they choose to, that doesn’t mean they are demanding all urban amenities. I don’t want a mall. I want internet.
This is frankly the dumbest, most academically unsound thing I have ever read. There are absolutely ways to bring fresh produce to rural America.

Y’all blame rural America for things white politicians who represent suburbs do and it’s becoming clear no one knows what “rural” means.
For a lot of people “rural america” has just become a catch all term for white politicians mostly in the south, but rural America isn’t just a bunch of white republicans. There are rural communities in every state, with diverse populations (even if not always well integrated).
These places are culturally, economically and certainly racially diverse, and like all things people don’t see with their own eyes, it has become a verbal meme we throw around. It’s ignorant, and it makes me mad.

Thefriendlystatenews.com has been launched for less than 24 hours and I’ve already got more than 100 freelancers signed up for a Saturday public records training, and one (sponsored!) student training and one local newsroom training booked.
I did this because I knew there was a massive need for affordable, accessible investigative training and y’all I am floored. I am so happy. My heart is full. Thank you for trusting me with your time and your money - we are going to do some really cool shit.
I can only have 150 freelancers, max, in this because ya girl isn’t a millionaire with super premium video conferencing so if it fills up, I’ll do a second one.

I feel this way right now even tho I want kids some day! I don’t think this is a weird sentiment, even tho it’s gotten a lot of pushback. I like my little independent life with my dog! I can do whatever I want!
My friends with kids are also living their best lives, and one day that’ll be right for me too, but right now not having kids is pretty great!
Shout out to kids, who are way better than adults and are fun to hang out with but who I don’t want to be responsible for in any way at this time. Thank you.
