When the devastating second wave hit India, he was rightly questioned for lack of preparedness and an approach that was unscientific. Being the leader of the government, his approach indeed caught the country off guard, and led to a humanitarian crisis.

Continuing with election rallies, festivals, lack of focus on sequencing, not paying heed to scientific advice for preventive measures further compounded the problem that the devastating delta variant posed.

This is what separates a good, strong and sensitive leader from one who isn't. He corrected the course very quickly. Realising the scale of catastrophe that hit India in the last part of April, he provided the leadership the country required.

Since then, India's management of Covid - both regarding testing, management & prevention on one hand; and vaccination on the other hand - have been absolutely top notch...

All those who heavily criticised PM Modi for his poor decisions during the second wave and demanded accountability were right. There was no excuse to a bunch of poor decisions he took.

But then, if you can't appreciate the way he has prioritized, executed and implemented the vaccination for all in a country as complex and large as India, you are a rank hypocrite. I am not someone who would blindly support everything and anything.

I also have many disagreements wrt policies in many areas. But then, I know, he is the best we have and there isn't anyone even close to him yet.

Happy birthday to the man whom India is lucky to be led by. May Mahadev give you more strength to lead the country even better.
