[THREAD]

As some of you may know, my family had to battle covid19. My mom, sister and nephew all tested positive for C19. Thankfully, all of them had mild symptoms. My mom fully vaccinated with sinovac. My sister, with Janssen. So yes, vaccines saved the lives of my family.
But few people don't know is that having covid is just the beginning. Plenty of other problems would come up.

First is finacial. Having covid is very expensive. The tests alone could cripple you financially.
The medicine would be in the thousands especially of your entire family is sick. On top of your daily expenses. Not to mention if your work will not give you paid leaves for the time you are sick.
Second is supply. You may have the resources but if your local drugstores don't have the medicine you need, you would have to buy it here in Manila, have someone send it by courrier and hope the symptoms don't get worse before the medicine reaches their doorstep.
Third is logistics. Since my family could not risk anymore people getting infected, they have to do everything on their own. Prepare food, cook, clean and this is on top of their symptoms of shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, diarhea. It gets difficult. Very difficult.
Fourth is contact tracing. My family communicated, as anyone should, to everyone they interacted with to inform them that they've been exposed and that they should have themselves tested.
THE PROBLEM is... most of them do not want to be tested. Because if they do test positive... they would get the problems i stated in 1, 2 and 3. And not everyone can afford that.

San sila maghahanap ng pambayad ng tests, san sila kukuha ng kakainin, saan sila bibili ng gamot.
Having dealt with these problems, i now fully understand why we're still in this pandemic without hope in sight. We're not dealing with these problems at all. Can your LGU provide these things? Make sure the local drugstores have enough?
Make sure you have enough resources to last you for 14 days? To make sure you can be brought to the hospital if it becomes necessary? If they can't, and/or won't better think about voting differently next election.
And this is also why i'm urging @lenirobredo to run for president. The @VPPilipinas, based on stories from friends, not only provide the medicine but even offer food for those who call Bayanihan E-Konsulta. That eliminates two of the problems i stated.
They give free tests through Swab Cab and incentivize it as swell. Also, making sure the family is provided for if in case the person tested positive. Imagine if VP @lenirobredo had enough budget to scale up their operations for the entire Philippines.
We could be looking a post-pandemic Philippines by Christmas.
