I've been picking up too many followers lately, so let me tell you how I'd solve the 14,000 (!) mostly Haitian migrants huddling under a bridge in Del Rio, TX trying to get into the USA.

1/n Image
If I were Biden I would fly down to Del Rio and give a speech in French on loudspeakers (later uploaded to youtube) saying that:

- no one is getting in
- no humanitarian aid (food water etc) will be given
- if you trash in the river you're getting hit with rubber bullets

2/n Image
Biden's current plan is to fly the migrants back to Haiti on the USA's dime.

Why?

That's like saying "don't make it into the US illegally, get a free ride back home" so it incents this behavior, plus it makes it easy for Mexico.

This is a Mexican problem.

Haitians don't magically appear in Mexico. They get there because Mexico didn't do a good enough job on border control.

So let them deal with it.

Yeah it's sad, I respect these Haitians for wanting a better life, but life isn't fair and we have to take care of our own.

Bonus video of the situation

Ps I’ve been to the American-Mexican border (not just border crossing but like the country parts you’re not supposed to go because it’s dangerous so I’m told).

It is really easy to cross.

We forget almost everything.

That's why it's so important to have a list of fast and easy to remember rules of thumb ACRONYMS in business that help you make good decisions.

I tried googling such a list and couldn't find anything.

Can we put one together here?

1/2
1. QARCS - Quality, Advertising, Risk, Cost, Speed (the important metrics in choosing vendors)

2. DIMMP - Design, Installation, Materials, Maintenance, Permitting (Compare and contrast different options in real estate)

2/3
3. CLAMS - Challenge, Location, Advancement, Money, Security (think of this when you're doing interview)

4. DIACIL - Debits increase assets, Credits increase liabilities (I don't know how I'd do accounting without this one)

Comparison of vaccine mandates vs. weight loss mandates for the obese. Image
A lot of people said "this is a false equivalence".

It's not (as you can see above).

It's easier to get vaccinated than it is to lose weight, but there are numerous pros to losing weight over vaccines (no boosters, improves health vis-a-vis multiple illnesses).
I'm sure some idiot will say "there's no cure for obesity" - there is. You're just delusional.

Something I think about a lot:

The best way to make it on social media isn’t to write threads or to give value or any of that.

It’s just to be *somebody*.

To give another example: I think @paulg once said that his website really caught on after writing some really high

1/2
number of posts.

That feels like correlation not causation.

When you read his work, most of the time you’re only reading it because of his success with Y Combinator.

I don’t have the backend stats but I’d bet that’s how his blog made it big.

2/3
To me, writing those super well written threads, rewriting Wikipedia, or even giving really amazing value (that is meme dense and well written to succeed) feels like a waste of time. Just pour that energy into building a business. Succeed and then turn on Twitter. Boom.

See that massive purple spike in March 2020?

That's what lockdowns did to the sales of our building toy Brain Flakes.

If you look at Christmas 2020, it almost looks like March 2020 sapped Christmas 2020 sales.

1/2
Separately, is there a good way to export sales by day by sku?

I don't see a good way in Amazon besides exporting "all orders" and that's a nightmare when you have a lot of sales (too many MB to that excel!).

2/2
Lockdowns and covid just totally destroyed normal seasonality patterns.

Different sku:

Like wtf is going on here.

My 10 year goal is to achieve professional ikigai.

This is a thread on how I will achieve that and how you can too using a process described at the end of the thread.
First I must describe my destination. After achieving my goal, my professional life will be:
- no deadlines/stress
- thinking & problem solving all day
- no busywork, eg I'm not doing anything that I don't love that someone else can do
- big-picture oriented, minimal details
- I will have access to financials and a databoard that lets me check the health of our businesses
- my work will be mostly creative
- I'm not talking to anybody with whom I feel the need to slow down to get my point across
- I'm not doing one-on-one non-repeatable training

My wife popped out a kid.

We've had it for about a week, which means...

It's time for a 🧵👇
I'm a first time father and I was raised by wolves so I had no idea what to expect.

Boy! When they had you your kid after he gets ripped out of, y'know...

It's an amazing moment. It's a combination of being A) totally overwhelmed B) really tired C) unsure how to proceed
D) Proud! I cried a little.

It's pretty cool. As soon as you make a new human, they become an extension of you. For example, I used to be insecure about myself. Now I'm also insecure about my child too, which is GREAT!
