Mayor Jyoti Gondek and Couns Peter Demong and Andre Chabot are holding a press conference on Green Line responding to the province’s proposed alignment.
Gondek is going back through the timeline from Sept. 3 to today. This includes the back and forth with the province to salvage portions of the line as well as contracts.
Gondek says AECOM report was done on Dec 2, but city/provincial working group wasn’t briefed until Dec 13. Mayor says AECOM report was submitted to City of Calgary at 10pm Friday.
Hello from the city’s Infrastructure and Planning Committee. Councillors will hear a presentation on the full report into the Bearspaw Feeder Main break.
Committee is going back and forth on what to do about the Calgary Plan. The proposed plan replaces both the municipal development plan and the transportation plan.
Calgary Police chief Mark Neufeld is responding to the province’s announcement on photo radar. He begins by saying CPS received a written notice on Friday at 4:30pm. He says there is “collective disappointment” about the process in which this overhaul happened.
Neufeld taking issues with Dreeshen’s repeated references to photo radar as a cash cow. He says this is unprofessional and undermines trust in the police service. He says it makes their jobs more difficult.
Neufeld also making reference to the minister wearing an apron and slicing into beef at his announcement today. Neufeld says he wants the minister to think of those injured and killed in collisions involving excessive speed in Calgary.
Council is getting set to start their meeting. A lengthy agenda today and we’re expecting an update on the water situation.
