When we are in a state of indulgence, we tend to be in state of Deep focus.
That's absolutely necessary but we end up consuming more time than necessary, our brain might still want to continue but deep down is there any energy left?
Everyone loves gaming, when we begin to play games our perception of time becomes so fast that we feel so less time.
When we enjoy something we tend to release more dopamine, which is making us to do more.
Even a worker doing any type of task, most of them begin their work to complete it in a single take.
A student, sits to study or complete their task doesn't leave the desk until they are overwhelmed.
Most of us feel taking breaks is a waste of time.
However, taking a break is beneficial for us and our work.
Screen-breaks, lunchtime breaks and longer breaks, have all been shown to have a positive relationship with wellbeing and productivity.
1. Taking regular breaks helps you be more productive
While taking breaks might sound counterintuitive when it comes to boosting productivity, itβs one of the best ways to do so.
You gain focus and energy after stepping away from your desks.
2. Breaks help you to process and retain information
Our brains have two functioning modes: βfocusedβ, and βdiffusedβ.
When operating in diffused mode, our brain is more relaxed and in a βdaydreamβ type state.
Have you ever stumbled upon a great idea when you're in shower?
3. Youβll be more creative
Never taking a break from tasks at hand actually reduces your ability to be creative.
Your cognitive capacity is exhausted and itβs more difficult to get creative compared to if your brain is more rested.
4. Breaks can help you cultivate healthier habits
When youβre busy and stressed, the usual healthy habits β such as eating nutritious meals, exercising, and getting plenty of sleep β can easily fall by the wayside.
π Taking breaks: The Myth
When we are set to take a quick break we end up scrolling through social media, you might not notice it but your brain is actually switching from task A to task B.
You're still uploading more information to your brain which ends up being overwhelmed.
I had this common itch, I had this unusual idea to be productive in spare time by reading pending posts or newsletter in the breaks.
It never worked well, I always ended up being tired.
π How to take breaks?
- Leave your desk for 10-20 minutes.
- Walk to grab a water, or walk away from your desk.

βIf you dwell with a lame man, you will learn how to limp.β Itβs a pretty observable truth. We become like the people we spend the most time with. Thatβs why we have to be so careful about the influences we allow into our life.
π Is this in my Control?
What is in our control is primarily our thoughts, emotions, desires, choices, and actions (or at least certain aspects of them), and that everything else strictly speaking lies outside of our control - is consistent.
