Self-Tracking a powerful strategy for Self Awareness

Self-quantification is the art of tracking yourself, with an aim to improve self-awareness through numbers.

The aim is to improve self sensing, self-awareness, and human performance using personal data. This looks new however it's not a new phenomenon.
In 1726, at the age of 20, Benjamin Franklin was tracking what he considered to be the thirteen most important behaviors for a good life.
📝 The challenge of Self-Awareness

- Most of us truly don't understand what makes us tick.
- The habits and emotions are visible but what is going on underneath is unclear.
- We are a terrible predictor. Insufficient personal data leads to unpredictable life.
📝 Why is Self tracking imp for Self awareness?

Self tracking can help us recall our behavior with greater accuracy and see ourselves more clearly.

It give you accurate insights of our behaviors when we're more accountable of our personal data.
Eg: When you set a goal to write everyday. When you have a data of progress, how much or when did you write?

2 weeks later you can see the data and compare yourself exactly how far you've come.

It gives a clear insights whether it's a progress or regress.
📝 What to track for Self-Awareness?

It depends on your preferences, what you want to improve the most?

Health, Finance, Habits, Diet or Goals. These are the things that are valuable to everyone.
📝 Tracking Physical Health

Fortunately, physical health is one of the easiest things to track and the fitness tracker industry is very advanced.

There are lot of options. Fitness Bands or Watch.
📝 Tracking Mental and Emotional Wellbeing

To monitor this type of wellbeing you should be tracking your stress level, mood, significant emotional events, medications, and how they make you feel and so forth.

Tracking this states is easier in APP or Calendar.
📝 Tracking Finances

Often we need to make adjustments to our spending habits in order to make more space in our budgets.

Track every cent as you spend it, and analyze exactly where your money is going.
📝 Tracking Time

Tracking exactly how you spend your time can help you realize how much time you have, and how it could be redirected.

It can also show you where you are wasting time, and should perhaps be delegating tasks.
📝 Tracking Habits

Track the habits when you do it, where you are and what's happening and the good or bad.

Combined with all these you can identify the trigger itself to break the bad one.

What you need to track for your goals depends on what you are trying to do.
📝 Summary

Your collected data can give reveal more things about you. Start collecting your data.

Meanwhile you can't collect everything. Just focus on things that's essential everyday and that needs to be improved.
