There’s this Green Beret who has some great videos on this. Forgot what they are called. Really enlightening stuff tho.
Book I was thinking of is “Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma.”
There are valuable workshops, I know @SutcliffeDavid does deep healing work for men using breathing and other trauma release techniques.

Y’all should look into this, it’s powerful work. Gets stigmatized as “not manly,” but that’s really men being afraid to look in.
There’s this machismo “men don’t cry.”

Oftentimes men become strong due to childhood trauma. The strongest men suffer the most.

Unlocking and releasing that trauma is a fuck load more manly than looking at the bottom of a bottle.

Personally, I love to cry.
Trauma finds its way out.

That means for most men it’s lashing out, frustration, taking it out on the innocent people, which recreates trauma.

It’s our singular goal as men to close off the loops or ancestral trauma that was passed down to us from family, teachers, abusers.
Go somewhere by yourself and cry.

No one is there to watch or judge.

Then you’ll find the Inner Judge, the most cruel of all.

The voices of culture, broken family members, toxic voices from the past.

Why would you let those “voices in your” head control you?
“Real men don’t cry.”

They hold it all in and

- Find a bottle of booze

- Lash out at others

- Feel aimless frustration and malaise

- Harden their arteries

- Distract themselves to death

It doesn’t have to be this way, nor should it.
“Real men don’t cry,” they instead feel despair, a sense something is missing, and they are right.

It’s a disconnection from heart and spirit.

“Grr I’m a tough guy.” Cool. I’ve had my nose broken plenty of times. No big deal.

That ain’t what makes you fulfilled and complete.
I’ve done the traditionally masculine stuff. Fought. Sex. Travel. Money. Muscles.

“Success.”

Confronting your trauma, learning to breathe into your ❤️ ,

Crying … that’s when you see real power.

The power of God within your soul.
No one least of all me is saying to not chase those dragons of classical masculinity. You should.

Then find more, look within your hearts.

Learning to confront trauma, close off the damages others have done to you via ancestral trauma, that’s when the real work begins.

I read Metaphors We Live By decades ago and it has me always looking at metaphorical embeds.

Why does it feel like space is more natural than earth?

“Getting high.”

If we think about it, we all realize that we don’t belong on earth.

What that is, haven’t figured out yet.
“Stoned Ape,” I don’t like the vernacular used around plant medicine. Shows power of language to close off conversations.

It’s completely plausible that we were more like other animals and then found 🍄, which had alien consciousness embedded, and then it upgraded our minds.
Many Christians have never read the book of Ezekiel.

That’s so clear whenever we discuss these subjects.

Anyhow go read Ezekiel, you’ll might be surprised by what you find!

Billion's dialogue is too hokey, but maybe works for being "very online." For example Axe wanted to call Nassim Talib to ask if it was a true black swan event - and was checking hastags for TheMike.

Pacing is still good, however, the show captures the attention of the ADHD mind.
One way to evaluate shows - Will there be a YouTube aftermarket for clips?

You can watch The Wire (David Simon stole his best work from Spike Lee) clips and catch new stuff, it's still insightful.

Billions is watchable, but I don't see people watching clips years later.
Billions is a great show capturing the banality of evil, how people make moral compromises and lose themselves.

I was shocked to learn the creator is a huge Blue Anon guy given Billions' realistic depiction of federal prosecutorial abuse and corruption.

Three ideas that seem great and aren't:

1. Term limits (this gives *more* power to lobbyists).

2. Salary cuts for Congress (only the rich could afford to be in Congress).

3. Third party (it's a winner-take-all system, Republican would never win POTUS).
1. Term limits!

Sounds great, but then newbies roll into D.C. without a clue.

They have nowhere to turn to except to lobbyists and think tanks.

Term limits would lead to worse outcomes for conservatives.
2. Cut Congressional salaries!

Most members sleep on a friend's couch or in their offices, as their families remain home. That's the reality of D.C. cost of living.

If anything salaries should increase, as most can't afford supporting two households on the current salary.
