Boosters are additional vaccine shots that will help increase people’s protection, as we fight the Delta variant and try to end this pandemic.
The FDA and CDC have completed their independent, scientific review and recommended that people who got Pfizer and are age 65 and older, at high-risk for severe COVID, or are frontline workers can go get their booster, starting at least 6 months after their 2nd shot.
If you look at your vaccine card, and if it’s been more than 6 months and you’re in one of these categories, you can go get your booster. It’s that simple.
This is the first group of people eligible, and FDA and CDC will continue to evaluate data over the coming weeks and make determinations for additional populations going forward, including people who got Moderna and J&J.
If you haven’t gotten your vaccine yet – now is the time. Find a vaccine near you at vaccines.gov.

A year ago, President Biden promised that we were going to Build Back Better. To do that, we must tackle the challenges that face middle class families and level the playing field so every American has a fighting chance — that's what the Build Back Better Agenda is about. 1/5
The Build Back Better Agenda cuts taxes for middle class families, puts money directly in people’s pockets, and won't add to the national deficit over the long-run. Instead, we'll cover the cost by making the wealthy and large corporations pay their fair share. 2/5
The President's Build Back Better Agenda gives middle class families breathing room by lowering the cost of health care, prescription drugs, and high quality child care. The plan also puts money back in pockets through expanded tax credits for workers and families. 3/5

Over the last weeks, our troops completed the largest airlift in U.S. military history – carrying more than 120,000 people from Afghanistan. Now, we are working to safely welcome the brave Afghan allies who worked with us, and other vulnerable Afghans to the U.S. Here’s how:
Those with Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) and vulnerable Afghans are being flown to third countries in Europe and Asia that have agreed to serve as transit hubs before undergoing robust security screening and flying to the U.S.
The screening process involves biometric and biographic security reviews conducted by our intelligence, law enforcement, and counterterrorism professionals who are working around the clock to vet all Afghans before they are allowed into the United States.

Today, the last C-17 lifted off from Kabul at 3:30 PM ET. Thanks to the men and women serving in uniform, we have now completed the largest airlift in U.S. history. Here is a closer look at this historic airlift. THREAD:
During the past 17 days, our troops evacuated over 120,000 U.S. citizens, citizens of our allies, and Afghan allies with unmatched courage, professionalism, and resolve. This is the largest non-combatant evacuation in the U.S. military’s history.
Since August 14, U.S. military aircraft evacuated more than 79,000 civilians from Kabul. This includes 5,526 Americans, and more than 73,500 third country nationals and Afghan civilians. This last category includes SIVs, consular staff, at-risk Afghans and their families.

We’re evacuating thousands of Afghans eligible for Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs). Here is an overview of who is eligible for a SIV and how are we accelerating the process to get Afghans to safety – THREAD:
Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) are visas for Afghans (and their families) who have worked alongside the U.S. and played invaluable roles, such as translators and interpreters. When President Biden took office, no SIV interviews had taken place in Kabul since March 2020.
At the President's direction, our Administration surged resources, restarted interviews, reduced the processing time by 50%, and processed the most visas in the program’s history in the months before Kabul fell.

Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced our administration’s plan for COVID-19 booster shots for fully vaccinated Americans. Alongside this plan, we will continue our efforts to vaccinate those who are not yet vaccinated in the U.S. and around the world.
The safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine continues to offer fully vaccinated people a high degree of protection against the worst outcomes of this virus, including the widespread Delta variant. But even highly effective vaccines experience a reduction in protection over time.
The President's priority in COVID response has always been to stay ahead of the curve and let science, data, and trends inform public health policies. Since day one, our administration has been preparing for every scenario, including the potential need for vaccine booster shots.

Last night the Senate took an important step toward passing the Build Back Better Agenda – a plan to create jobs, cut taxes, and lower costs for working families. For today's #WhiteHouseDeepDive, let's look at how this plan brings down costs for Americans.

🧵THREAD:
By lowering health insurance premiums, the Build Back Better Agenda will save 9 million people an average of $50 per person per month, and help an additional 4 million uninsured people gain coverage. The plan will also add dental, vision, and hearing coverage to Medicare.
The Build Back Better Agenda's health care savings don't stop at more affordable coverage. President Biden knows that nearly 1 in 4 Americans struggle to afford their prescription drugs. His plan will lower costs by empowering Medicare to negotiate and drive down drug prices.
