At 11am - Jan 6 defendant Pauline Bauer, who's made conflicting statements about being sovereign citizen & was defending herself in case, requests release from pretrial jail ..... with the help of a lawyer
Judge just told Bauer, “you’ve shown complete disregard for the court”
Judge: “You’ve shown contempt for the rule of law”
Bauer then interrupts judge.. referencing “dominion over the land”
“I Pauline… a living soul…”, begins Bauer in argument for release from jail. “He gave man dominion over the land…” she continues.
Bauer says she has diplomatic immunity. And is appearing as a “friend of the court”
Bauer to judge, “You threw me in jail for a week”…. Says she’s been in suicide ward. She says she’s not suicidal… citing her taking of vitamins each day. And her exercising
Bauer says “it’s pretty clear we are not going to get anywhere”… asks to go to appeals court. Judge shuts down hearing. Bauer never references the argument a court appointed lawyer made on her behalf. Bauer goes back to jail
This has been a uniquely and profoundly self-destructive episode. Bauer faces low-level charges and likely wasn’t going to face much, if any time behind bars. Now she’s back for week 2 in pretrial detention. With no trial firmly on calendar
