This is not correct, individuals who become infected with COVID19 and recover exhibit highly variable levels of protective immunity vs reinfection. Some have protection, others very little or none. If you are infected and recovered, it’s still important for you to get vaccinated.
For instance, if you remember when we were looking at the convalescent (infected and recovered) sera controls in the mRNA vaccination studies, there was tremendous variability/heterogeneity in virus neutralizing antibodies nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
Then the Nussenzweig’s group @RockefellerUniv published in @nature that those who were infected but then vaccinated developed really robust responses, with even epitope broadening to make you resilient vs variants nature.com/articles/s4158…
Bottom line, if you were unfortunate enough to get infected with COVID19 you still should get vaccinated.

Antiscience aggression causing the deaths of 2,000 unvaccinated Americans per day, is fast approaching the leading cause of death on a daily basis in the United States 🇺🇸. In a series of papers in @PLOSBiology I reported how death by antiscience was accelerating. No one cared.

We’ve wasted vast energy on phony GOF and lab leak nonsense. I’ve worked in China for 3 decades. I’ve said since the beginning: unless we find a Sino-US path of cooperation across Central China for a year to understand at a granular level the origins, we’ll have another pandemic
On multiple occasions I’ve offered to both Trump and Biden White House to appoint me as US Science Envoy to break the ice and get to the bottom of this. The realpolitik is that it’s more convenient and expedient to do nothing and posture than it is to prevent COVID-26 COVID-32
I guess I should say “reappoint” having served in the Obama Administration 2015-16. We got some serious things done
