You wrote an amazing thread or article.

But the response? Crickets.

Here are 3 reasons influential people aren't sharing your content — and what you can do to change that:
1/ They're incentivized to earn engagement on their own platforms.

Your content needs an obvious connection to that goal.

If it doesn't, people with followings or gatekeepers of publications are unlikely to amplify your work.
2/ They get these requests a lot.

Their inboxes are flooded with requests for RTs, inclusion in newsletters, press coverage, etc.

So standing out from the crowd is especially difficult.
3/ They have audiences with affinities and preferences of their own.

Your work needs to resonate with both the amplifier AND their audience.

Or you'll struggle to get the share.
Earning amplification is hard.

But that's also good news:

Because your competition is unlikely to beat you.

To move forward, ask yourself...
Who will amplify this? And why?

A successful answer will be:

• Precise
• Detailed
• Thoughtfully-connected
Let's say you wrote an article on the state of blogging and social sharing.

❌ A bad answer to "Who will amplify this and why?":

People who are interested in writing/creating.

That's too general.
✅ A better answer to "Who will amplify this and why?":

Creators who are frustrated when their social media content doesn't get traction.

(For this, we followed our own advice. And got 50,000+ impressions with the below thread)

⭐️ And an even better answer:

• Communities like @FosterCoWriting and Write of Passage, where creators are learning to promote their work online

• People who use hashtags: #Ship30for30 and #tweet100

• Creators who are frustrated when their content doesn't get traction.
When you start thinking in terms of who will amplify you and why...

You start creating things more likely to get shared.

You start promoting your work in amplification-earning ways.

And you start to turn your own marketing flywheel.
There's lots more to learn about creating share-worthy content.

@randfish will walk you through it during Office Hours on Thursday, Sept. 30, 11am PDT.

A personalized PR pitch will always be better than a generic email blast.

Here's 1 elegant way to do that:
Do a SparkToro search for "My Audience follows the social account: <your target publication's Twitter handle>"

(You can do this with a free account!)
Then look at the results: Your audience's "Frequently Used Phrases."

Here's an example using NYT Health. You'd see that people who follow them online also tend to publicly talk about "blood pressure," "older adults," and "physical activity." Screenshot of SparkToro dashboard results which shows the &q
