Know that progressives believe they are helping Biden right now but voting down a major bi-partisan bill that the President said was critical to showing the world that American democracy can work doesn’t seem to be all that helpful.

Don’t know what’s going to happen, but if progressives vote down a core plank of Biden’s agenda not sure most voters are going to see it as helpful to the POTUS.
It also likely means they lose leverage over reconciliation process.

The issue with reconciliation is all about Manchin and Sinema. We should be able to get a robust and good package out of the House.
I am not as pessimistic as many but I may be wrong - perhaps Manchin and Sinema are trying to kill all reconciliation bills. But I don’t think so.

There is an argument to be made that if progressives pull back now and rally behind the President’s agenda that the good will they generate could actually INCREASE their reconciliation leverage, not diminish it.
Not sure the old guy from VT is right about this. But we will see.
