The missing trucks debacle is only the latest episode in the Faulty Towers like farce. After the TPLF invaded Afar in mid July - explicitly stating their intent to cut off Addis Ababa - they blocked the aid corridor to Djibouti.
During that offensive the TPLF committed numerous massacres of isolated civilian Afar communities most notably the infamous Galicoma Massacre on August 5th. This as even now only been acknowledged by @UNICEF and as far as I am aware has not been reported in international media.
@UNICEF In the initial phase of this TPLF offensive the Ethiopian Govt. halted truck convoy's - for obvious reasons - to which the IC responded with repeated vigorous demands to the Ethipoian Govt. which was at the time observing a unilateral ceasefire.
The TPLF offensive in Afar has only recently ended, earlier this month, with a victory by the Afar over TPLF forces.
And I don't know if that has been reported either.
One would think that officials at the @StateDept@EEAS_eu and United Nations would have better quality briefings than what I can glean off the internet. But on the basis of their consistent conduct for months, it seems not.
We finally seem to have one politician in America who is willing to talk about this, which is great. But this is not enough. The International Community's response to the Tigray War has been appalling, since day one.
Evidence points to them being fed information by the TPLF- probably from before the hot conflict began - and believing that information entirely, still.
The magnitude of injustice done to the people's of Ethiopia as a result of this, and to their Govt. of this is incalculable.
Had the IC been paying attention, treating information sources skeptically and with an open mind from the outset - all of this could have been avoided.
The excuses/explanations of Covid and other distractions such as Trump do not hold any water. Trump was gone by mid February.
The only explanations remaining are pure incompetence, aggravated by racism and imperial hubris.
But the truth hasn't changed and it will in the end out.
In the meantime, late-comers to the drama like @UNReliefChief Martin Griffiths, should refuse to go along with the stupid. The IC needs a complete reset on Ethiopia - based on fact, not nonsense.
If not for Ethiopia then for Africa Stability and @COP26. Right now the future of both are at risk. The ongoing war is spreading instability throughout East Africa. And will likely spread further. Meanwhile the news impact of this fiasco is spreading throughout the global south.
Its not just the world that need's to "wake up" as @antonioguterres says. The ivory tower institutions of power and privilege in the United States, the European Union and the United Nations need to "wake up", because they are failing. Completely.

This short thread shows how cyclonic storms in the tropical Atlantic affect/drive the weather in Europe. Major Hurricane Sam is bottom left.
Its outflows - atmospheric moisture created and projected into the jet streams 11-18kms up - are already reaching Western Europe.
Major Hurricane Sam is forecast to remain a hurricane until it reaches very northerly latitudes (in line with the France), and then continue as a strong extra-tropical cyclonic storm through Tuesday-Wednesday next week.
This animation shows the past 24 hours over Western Europe. The jet-stream outflows from U.S./Canadian storms and Hurricane Sam can be seen arriving at the bottom. From the north cold northerly jet-streams are colliding with these over the UK.
Here's a view Gulab 19 hours ago. Current scenarios in both leading cyclonic models the ECMWF (European) and GFS (US) maintain the view that the cyclone will not intensify or bring significant rain across the Arabian Peninsula.
Here are the latest ECMWF and GFS rainfall solutions. The GFS has a more northerly path taking the cyclone into the #UAE, while the ECMWF has returned to a two cyclone scenario.
The underlying problem here is US exceptionalism. It has to end. It has corrupted the global order and 1000s of innocent Ethiopian civilians have paid the price of this corruption in blood 🩸 and tears 😭.
Clearly the UN was sitting on its evidence of the trucks not returning for some time. PMO's @BilleneSeyoum was repeatedly saying that there was a problem with UN accredited aid organisations not complying with paperwork.
I'm rather surprised that this storm, remnants of Severe Cyclone Gulab re-emerging over the Arabian Sea after transiting India does not appear to be a designated storm. Looks like a cyclone to me.
Here's a 12 hour animation of rains over Ethiopia which are part of the same monsoon burst, which to me looks like it is stronger than what was forecast in the major models.
Here's an animation showing two cyclonic systems over India yesterday, The one on the left is Gulab (Which means "Rose" in Hindi. The one on the right is designated as Invest 98B.
Thank you @RassBariaw for your amplification of this discussion. IMO this is a particularly insidious piece of disinformation. And I note it is written by an anonymous author. Who claims to require protection.
@RassBariaw The decision to obscure the author I surmise, is made with an intention to elevate the sense of fear among its target audience - educated Ethiopians incl. diaspora members who are already predisposed towards TPLF narratives which consistently blame all Ethiopia's woes on Abiy.
The publisher of the piece is effectively the well known TPLF apologist, South African Alex de Waal, of the anachronistically named "World Peace Foundation". Though it is odd that his association is not on the "About Us" page of the website.
