Good morning. I will be tweeting today from Helen Webberley's Tribunal @RachelWilde13. Proceedings start at 9:30am
Clerk has just advised that when they read out the statement from Patient A they usually go 'at lightning speed'. If it becomes a problem to tweet that fast I may take notes and tweet later on.
They are in private session. Will start tweeting when the session is opened to the public.
Chair - convened to hear the evidence of Pat A and Pat A mother. IS - Pat A and Mrs A gave evidence with the public excluded to ensure their anonymity. Occurred to me after that there may be difficulties during the course of our final submissions in referring to material within
the statements would be difficult as we would have to go in and out of public session. There would be an absence of transparency. We could go back to Pat A and Mrs A to ask for their agreement that their actual evidence could be given in public. Mrs A/A have agreed to this.
Subject to the caveat that their identities will be kept anonymous. Chair agrees. A summary has been given to the Panel. The summary should be read. IS - it is a precis not a transcript. Summary of Mrs A's evidence given on 24/9/21 - patient A's mother called as a defence witness
Mrs A confirmed she had met HW with Pat A on 2 occasions. Mrs A /Pat A had also met with Prof Butler on several occasions. Mrs A had got in touch with HW after being referred by Susie Green
Mrs A confirmed that she would not have gone down the route chosen if HW had not had a full medical history of Pat A. Did HW explore with her Pat A's full history? Yes - full history sent to her. From a young child (a mention of 9months was made??), Pat A insisted that he wanted
to be a boy. At 2 1/2 he would say he was a boy. At 3 it was traumatizing to put a dress on A. They saw Professor Butler because A wanted PBs. Pat A/Mrs A looked for experts abroad. Mrs A spoke to Pat A's counsellor who said he would speak to Prof Butler on A's behalf. A was
ecstatic that it seemed that he could go on to a testosterone trial. When Pat A started on testosterone he went from rock bottom depressed to very happy. In an appointment with CAMHS a staff member working with them said she wasn't trained. After that they asked CAMHS to
discharge them as no one seemed able to help them. Pat A did not smile before testosterone but now does. Pat A's mother thought A would not survive in a KOI (knowing our identity) system. Gendergp seems to have more about this on their website - 'First Hand Account Reveals
Distressing Experiences at Belfast GIDS' - Sep 3 2021. When Pat A'/A s mother met HW for the first time they thought that someone finally cared about their situation. HW gave lots of information at first appointment. A could not see a way forward without hormones. PBs were
important as it became a struggle to go to school. Pat A does not agree that he could have survived under a KOI regime such as the one in Belfast. A saw Professor Butler 6-7 times at GIDS. He did not want to go through puberty as everytime he took his top off it could be seen he
was trans. Chair - this formally closes the defence case. Final submissions will be given starting on Monday with the GMC and the case is adjourned until Monday at 9:30. Hopefully the tribunal will give their verdict on Friday fortnight.

[Thread 3].
Opening remarks: Panel Chair says they would like to hear from Patient A and Patient A's mother tomorrow.
SJ: Dr Webberley can I take you back to Patient C, to deal with issue of consent. 9th Feb 2016. Looking at the records, around the timing of the patient's consent signature, what was the dialogue b/w you, Patient C and patient C's mother?
