THREAD:

@rkabushenga , others and myself will be doing an independence Day campaign, showcasing Uganda's beauty.

We are rallying the population to showcase beautiful pictures of Uganda from different parts of Uganda.

#BeautifulUG ImageImageImageImage
@nextmediaug which owns @nbstv started a campaign of us celebrating Uganda Together today. @KKariisa .

Let me say something here: When we showcase Uganda, the business opportunities come direct to the population. When Uganda borrows loans, its a few people that see that money. Image
When a tourist for example arrives at Entebbe, she pays USD 50 for a visa, planes pay landing fees to CAA which employs Ugandans.

The tourist is picked up in a car which has a mechanic, spare part supplier, also goes to fueling station and all these are opportunities
The tourist goes to a hotel say Serena hotel which employs 700 Ugandans in their 2 properties, Serena hotels have over 190 suppliers of food stuffs, linen, beds etc.

Each of the supplier is actually a business, from eggs, onions, tomatoes, pineapples, rice, matooke, salt etc.
Of course most farmers don't see who ends up eating what they produce.

That cycle continues for the number of days each tourists is in the country and to grow wealthy, one needs big numbers of tourists coming into the country.

In Kenya, they will say if we get 10m tourists, each eating 2 eggs daily for 8 days....how many Poultry farmers will benefit?
So pushing the image of Uganda directly benefits the population not politicians reason its hard to convince the politicians to market Uganda. You and I will become better when Uganda is marketed.

END OF THREAD.

MONDAY THREAD:

ON HAPPINESS.

I sometimes think we all in one way or the other search for true source of happiness or meaning of happiness and for that matter, we all have several different ideas on what that means. Image
Recently, while waiting for my lunch at one restaurant at Village mall, I over heard a conversation of the guys seated next to me. One of them said, I have gotten lots of money from where, I don't know but I'm not happy he adds!
Of course lack of money can also be a source of happiness like we all know. I also know many people meet me and are like if I were you, I would be having this and that. Nice watch, latest car, top suits, designer this and that. They add, be happy!

ON OPPORTUNITIES IN TOURISM.

There was a guy who said "Ffe tubonabona bano banonya kubonabona" while we rode but with a bottle of beer in the hand, near a big group of men playing cards. With loud music near the lake, Probably with 12 kids somewhere. Image
But there was Aikomo Eddy(in the photo above) whose contact is 0751730181 and 0781372960, who runs a Jet Ski water sport. Immediately we docked in Kalangala, he was like eh wekesa, I follow you on Social media.
After the 5 to 6 hours of cycling, I went to Brovad sands to relax, and I observed him work hard. I didn't see him rest. After one point, he jumped off the ski and offered me a ride. We got talking.

FRIDAY THREAD:

Today, I was reflecting back on the 48years of my life, I have had opportunities of experiencing extreme poverty and relative wealth, great health and sometimes sickness, Trusted God most times, doubted the Creator a few times.
Here are some of the valuable lessons I have learned so far in life:
1- We all have a spiritual bit whether we like it or not, know it or not. We all have trust in something. Of course I haven't been perfect but the creator God has come through for me always . Given me wisdom on many occasion, seen His protection, given me favour before human...

USD 10 tax on tickets

Recently parliament discussed a new levy of USD 10 on each ticket sold out of Uganda to support tourism.
Before this discussion at Parliament, every flight ticket sold in Uganda had a levy of usd 57.7 dollars meant to go to @URAuganda , 10 dollars to security at the airport and USD 40 dollars handling fee...
The charge in Kenya is USD 50, what that means is that on a ticket between Nairobi and Entebbe, USD 107 are taxes. The airlines start calculating their costs from USD 107. Now they will start at USD 117.

GENESIS OF UGANDA LODGES LTD- (part 2)

But anyways, part 2 is only interesting if you have read part 1 which I tweeted last week and it's for learning purposes for the aspiring entrepreneurs who follow me on here.
I am a strong believer in the power of saving, power of investing savings , power of marketing and hardwork.

Generally speaking, I am the vision guy not necessarily a good implementor of my ideas.
Like I said in part 1, entrepreneurs don't always know the end from the start, but as you implement your faint vision, things start becoming even more clearer through the trials and challenges and sometimes the opportunities.

GENESIS OF UGANDA LODGES LTD (part 1)

Like everything in life, you don't need to know the end from the start because you will be learning so much along the way and that's why no one should lie to you about the so many secrets of doing business.
In 2001 April, I started up @SafarisUganda and the biggest motivation I had, I have already written/spoken about it many times before. Ofcourse I had acquired tourism basic skills and the rest I would learn on the job like in everything we do in life.
We spent 9 months in briefcase as a business and that means I had a bag that had our invoice book, receipts and sometimes would host my Nokia phone. I would issue an invoice and a receipt anytime business came by.
