5 tips for web dev newbies
My advice.

A thread 🧵
1️⃣ ONLY COMPARE YOURSELF TO YESTERDAY'S YOU

As long as you learned something new today, you've made progress.

It can be a single word, concept, whatever small it may be, as long as you know something today you didn't know yesterday, you're making progress✨💘

👇
This is THE secret to a healthy mindset, don't be too hard on yourself. Learning something new in itself is already fucking hard!!!

Everyone takes their own time and has their own way of understanding things. Your journey is YOURS alone.
2️⃣ BE REALISTIC

'Become a web dev in 3 months. Earn X!!' 🤔

Your goals should depend on your current situation, not on some random post from a stranger in the internet!!

That's the fastest way to get disappointed when your goals aren't being met.

Set realistic expectations!
3️⃣ Fundamentals > Frameworks

Frameworks come & go, but fundamentals are here to stay.

As a newbie, it's easy to get excited that you might overlook an important concept.

That's 100% normal, but you'll have an easier time learning new things when you know your fundamentals!
4️⃣ Language = syntax

STICK TO ONE FUCKING LANGUAGE!!

This is something I struggled with😂

Stick to ONE language to learn programming fundamentals. When you know the fundamentals, it'll be easier to learn other languages.

Languages are just syntax, the logic will be similar.
5️⃣ CHOOSE A POKEMON

Choose what you want to do (or the most common)!

Breaking into tech is not easy for non-tech people because of how HUGE tech is.

Some people want to break into the industry, but don't even know WTF is going on (me😅 )

It's easy to get overwhelmed!

👇
Taking the time to research what you want to do is obvious, but WHERE TF DO YOU START??

If you have an idea of what you want to do, GREAT! You know where to start, the basics.

But I didn't know WTF to do, so I went with the field with most resources: web dev.

& that's OK!

👇
It's OK not to know where to start.

It's OK to be so n00b that you don't even know what to search on Google.

Going with the one with the most resources makes sense. You'll have more options!

I went with web dev first, and learned enough to want to explore other tech fields!
Thanks for making it this far!!

Sweet reminder that these are just the things I personally struggled with!❤️

I post threads about my learning journey, especially my learning on: web dev, JavaScript, Web3 blockchain!!😆

Top 20 JavaScript array methods every JS beginner should know!!

A thread 🧵
Quick array method recap:

Array methods are built-in functions in JavaScript that you apply to arrays. Each method has a particular function that changes or manipulates the array.

It saves us time because we can use methods instead of hard coding everything!!😆
1️⃣ pop()

pop() removes the LAST element of an array and returns that removed element. This method changes the original array and its length.

1️⃣ The Odin Project

I love the Odin Project!!💛
It's how I started my web dev journey. It's THE BEST full stack curriulum I've seen so far. I really like TOP because it doesn't hold your hand; it forces you to solve problems by yourself!!

2️⃣ Full Stack Open

This course is for the intermediate, definitely for people who are familiar with the basics!! You don't gotta be an expert, you just gotta be familiar with vanilla JavaScript and the DOM.
