I understand why so many young people are turned off by politics, and why so many specifically hate the democrats.

But who can blame them? Many of us older folks keep insisting that for all of their problems, democrats are most likely to act on our behest, in our best interest.

Yet even many of us doubt that.

Look at the democratic party right now. How are we supposed to be believed, and how are they to be convinced, when we see members of our own party working directly against our interest, forcing us to negotiate with ourselves unnecessarily?

They force us into weak positions demanding that we squander our power and leverage to do good things for the people, while they preen, pose, profile, goof off, act like they're unaccountable, scrape money from donors, lobbyists, and from republicans.

Truth be told, I don't even recognize those democrats. They are like part of a group of siblings who kidnap the rest of their own brothers and sisters, then they demand that they give them what they want or they will destroy them all.

That's also known as a murder suicide pact.

But their hostage taking and ransom demands come with the none too subtle caveat that if they don't get their way, or if they feel to put upon or criticized, they will simply convert to republicans. They don't even bother to talk to constituents. it's beneath them.

Some how they seem to have forgotten that they didn't acquire power, position or authority themselves or with the help or republicans, but it was through the election by and mandate of the democratic voters whom they have chosen to completely ignore.

Because global warming is real, the only hope that exist for a future on this planet literally rests with the democratic party. Yet there are a craven handful who are willing to throw us all into the volcano so that they can get 5 more minutes of fame and a few dollars more.

So if we want young people to vote period, let alone for democrats, we need to give them reason. And we don't need to to tell them what good for them, or because we said so. Young people are young and they may not have a lifetime of experience, but they aren't stupid.

They know those are lies. What we need to do is show some good faith, action, willingness to fight, success, some real, tangible deliverables for the people, and most of all, unanimity.

If we can't do that, then democrats never need to complain about republican dirty politics, attacks, and propaganda because we are doing our damndest to drive away the future of our party, and to see to our own demise. And the republicans will just sit back and watch.

We need to face facts and not buy into the cheerleader hype that we are the party of good. That's only true when you get sh!t done. Right now, democrats are the best advertisement for why young people shouldn't vote democratic. It sounds terrible, but it's true.

And for those who would say "it's not all democrats," while that may be true, the antics of a few damage the comity of the entire party.

That has to change. Therefore, we need to get our act together and get rid of ALL the deadweight of the party for the sake of the future, and that future is almost here.

I've heard a few people say that there's no room left in the democratic party for them. Well, if saving the earth from environmental cataclysm and economic maelstroms the likes of which we've never seen doesn't fit their description of democrat, maybe it is time they move on.

And, my feelings won't be hurt if they do.

Too much is at stake for my children, and for yours. I'd rather save them than the seats of narcissistic, greedy, corporatist traitors.
