I really hope folks will actually read the full piece (there's over a dozen graphs & tables), but here's a couple of key ones.

8 days ago the death rate since June in the reddest 10th of the country was 5.5x higher than in the bluest 10th.
Today it's increased to 5.7x higher.

Here's the exact same data broken out into a scatter-plot graph. This would be kind of artistic if it didn't represent so much death and grief.
Setting partisanship aside, here's the real-world impact of vaccinations: The death rate since June in counties where at least 2/3 of the population has been fully vaccinated is *one fourth* that of counties where less than 40% have been fully vaxxed.
Finally, here's THE graph which cuts to the heart: The death rate in the reddest counties is anywhere from 2.6x to 8.0x higher than in the bluest counties REGARDLESS of what portion of the population is elderly (65+). In the counties w/the highest % of seniors it's 3.8x higher.
