For years, the US has fallen behind other major economies in some of the most critical areas to our economic competitiveness. Together, the Build Back Better Agenda and Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will position the US to win the race for the 21st century.

THREAD:
China has manufactured more than twice the number of electric vehicles (EVs) as the US. President Biden’s infrastructure deal and Build Back Better Agenda will close the gap by establishing a national network of EV chargers and providing tax credits for consumers buying EVs.
In a 2020 evaluation of “energy transition readiness,” the World Economic Forum ranked America behind Australia, Germany, Japan, and others.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will make the largest investments in clean energy transmission and climate resilience in US history.
If US women between the ages of 25 and 54 participated in the labor force at the same rate as they do in Canada or Germany, there would be 5 million additional women in the labor force -- translating into more than $500 billion additional economic activity per year.
The Build Back Better Agenda will make universal preschool a reality, lower child care costs, and establish a national comprehensive paid family and medical leave program. Americans will no longer be forced to make an impossible choice between a job and caring for a loved one.
The US has fallen behind its global competitors in areas like physical infrastructure and manufacturing.
China produces more steel in a month than the US produces in a year, and spends 3 times what we do on infrastructure.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will invest in upgrading our physical infrastructure — roads, bridges, high-speed rail — and revitalize US manufacturing in industries like auto and steel. The plan will set the US back on track to lead our competitors and win the 21st century.

In the fight against COVID-19, the strain on our hospital systems, our economy, and the risk to our children is too great not to use every tool available.

A new White House report explores how vaccination requirements save lives and are good for the economy.

THREAD:
It is clear that vaccination requirements result in more people vaccinated and save lives.

Vaccination requirements have increased vaccination rates by 20+ percentage points to over 90% in many organizations.
Vaccination requirements have already helped cut the rate of unvaccinated Americans by one-third.

Today, President Biden met with CEOs and business leaders about addressing the debt limit. Here’s what a few of them had to say.

THREAD:
Citi CEO Jane Fraser: “I can tell you that from an economic perspective, we need to resolve this issue very quickly. Every day of delay right now comes at an increasing price… it will hurt consumers. It will hurt small businesses.”
President and CEO of Nasdaq, Adena Friedman: “When we look at these delays, and certainly a default, would mean that hardworking Americans would ultimately bear the burden.”

Here’s what workers and their families can expect to see:
In Michigan, there are currently 1,219 bridges and over 7,300 miles of highway in poor condition.

President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will invest in rebuilding and repairing Michigan's infrastructure, including at least $7.3B for highways and $563M for bridges.
Right now, Michiganders who take public transportation spend an extra 68% of their time commuting.

President Biden’s infrastructure deal will invest at least $1B in updating and improving Michigan's transit.

Boosters are additional vaccine shots that will help increase people’s protection, as we fight the Delta variant and try to end this pandemic.
The FDA and CDC have completed their independent, scientific review and recommended that people who got Pfizer and are age 65 and older, at high-risk for severe COVID, or are frontline workers can go get their booster, starting at least 6 months after their 2nd shot.
If you look at your vaccine card, and if it’s been more than 6 months and you’re in one of these categories, you can go get your booster. It’s that simple.

A year ago, President Biden promised that we were going to Build Back Better. To do that, we must tackle the challenges that face middle class families and level the playing field so every American has a fighting chance — that's what the Build Back Better Agenda is about. 1/5
The Build Back Better Agenda cuts taxes for middle class families, puts money directly in people’s pockets, and won't add to the national deficit over the long-run. Instead, we'll cover the cost by making the wealthy and large corporations pay their fair share. 2/5
The President's Build Back Better Agenda gives middle class families breathing room by lowering the cost of health care, prescription drugs, and high quality child care. The plan also puts money back in pockets through expanded tax credits for workers and families. 3/5

Over the last weeks, our troops completed the largest airlift in U.S. military history – carrying more than 120,000 people from Afghanistan. Now, we are working to safely welcome the brave Afghan allies who worked with us, and other vulnerable Afghans to the U.S. Here’s how:
Those with Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) and vulnerable Afghans are being flown to third countries in Europe and Asia that have agreed to serve as transit hubs before undergoing robust security screening and flying to the U.S.
The screening process involves biometric and biographic security reviews conducted by our intelligence, law enforcement, and counterterrorism professionals who are working around the clock to vet all Afghans before they are allowed into the United States.
