Kwasi Kwarteng says he's "very resolute and clear" that the energy price cap stays in place. Also rules out Spring increase being brought forward from April to January, as demanded by some suppliers. #Marr
Kwarteng says there will be no green levy on gas bills in the next period of the energy price cap - but doesn't say what will happen after that...
Kwasi Kwarteng admits of the 5,000 HGV visas offered just "double digits" have been taken up - and blames it on global shortage of drivers.

Of course if you face shortages in eg Poland or Germany you can recruit drivers from next door EU countries w/o needing visas.

McDonald one of few survivors of Corbyn era and some will say writing was on wall.
Already sidelined when 'future of work' was handed over to Angela Rayner.
He wrote Labour's employment green paper - which calls for minimum wage increase to £10. But clearly wanted more.

EXCL: Labour leader @Keir_Starmer opposes Boris Johnson's National Insurance hike to fund social care.

Amid pressure to back hike to capital gains instead of NI he hints he might be prepared to accept over-65s shd contribute.

BREAKING: Government confirms 3% pay rise for NHS staff including nurses, paramedics, consultants, dentists and salaried GPs.
Ministers originally suggested a rise of just 1% - a real terms pay cut - which was branded "insulting" by NHS workers.

It would have been politically *extremely* difficult for Health Secretary Sajid Javid to ignore recommendation of independent pay review body.
It comes after a chaotic few days of the pay announcement being on, off, then on again etc.

No 10 insiders suggesting there was some last minute wrangling over the detail. Not sure which bits.

Keir Starmer kicks off with PM's "get out of isolation free card" - asking if public should self-isolate if pinged.

Boris Johnson says isolation remains a "vital tool" but apologises to businesses/ public sector who are "experiencing any inconvenience".

Starmer: "The British people are trying to follow the rules, how can they when his ministers keep making them up as they go along?"
