Most non francophone Africans don't really understand all the criticism against those who attended the #AfricaFranceRemix summit. Let me try to explain:

Like a woman forcibly married as a child who suffered through an abusive marriage and officially got out of it but the husband kept the bank account so the woman constantly has to interact with her abuser. #AfricaFranceRemix
The wounds are still raw. And the history still very close. Some of us who have tried to move on and build a new, more equal relationship with France, are branded as traitors. #AfricaFranceRemix
And France doesn't really help in this. Despite their public statements and PR funds spent to change their image, "le naturel revient au galop." They can't seem to help continuing to treat Africans in the same patronizing, condescending, demeaning way. #AfricaFranceRemix
It's hard to move on from the abuse when you are still in chains. Some of the chains by your abuser but some that you have tied around yourself. Like Stockholm Syndrome, you hate your abuser but can't seem to get away from him. #AfricaFranceRemix
I personally don't blame anyone for going to the summit. An all expense paid trip to exchange with other Africans across the continent is always a plus in my book. But there was no reboot. There was no remix. This is Francafrique as we've always known it. #AfricaFranceRemix
