I too have one SRK story. The special one of the many...
Nobody may want to listen but am gonna tell phir bhi... #SRKStory
So its his Eid party at Taj Lands End Bandra for the journalists where he first gives the sound bytes to the several thousands of flashing still and video cameras and then comes to our room and sits on each of our tables, one by one... #SRKStory continues ...
*at sorry
I am with @alakasahani and like the good, polite and friendly but still consciously professional, distanced journalists we are, we shake hands and wish him a Happy Eid and do some random conversation ... He is charming as usual ... #SRKStoryContinues
Then he goes up and walks towards the next table & we get back to our usual chatter ... But hello NO ... After a few steps he turns around and walks back towards us ... #SRKStoryContinues ...
*gets sorry again
He looks me in my eyes. I swear I love men who look directly in your eyes. Most are shifty & unable to meet your gaze. Ok so he looks at me & says: “Eid ke din handshake nahin karte, Gale Milte hain”. And I get one unsolicited hug ... 🤩
If I may add I haven’t recovered from that one encounter as yet. Am sure neither has @alakasahani ... I will keep narrating to whoever wants to listen (or not) till such time as I can... And even if you say 👇🏾
Even when he has had issues. And one has given him good number of reasons for that ... “I give you good interviews, you give me bad reviews” ... “Shabana Azmi type ke questions pooch rahi Ho” ... It has been in a good humoured way, at least with lucky me ... #SRKStoryContinues
Ditto for us bearing with his “punctuality”. 12.30am interview @ Mannat for Fan. Can’t claim the kind of access to him to be able to text “hang in there buddy”. I don’t “know” him. Vice versa. But am hard-nosed enough to figure people from how they think, feel, reflect, talk...
And the very fact that he has a mind and “gives the best interviews” and “talks so well” is now a cross to bear what with the kind of muck that dominates the public discourse. Is SRK of any relevance in the times when Arnab is the hero?
I wondered about it while watching a documentary on Maria Ressa & Duterte’s supposed war against drugs. It’s the same shit everywhere. Same playbook of lies & mass hypnosis. As I wrote to @radhikasan time is out of joint for us. And for those we admire. Lets learn to deal with it
Itna Kuchh likh daala yahan. Could have been a column in itself. But tweet threads ka joy alag hi hota hai. #EOM
Now I had better disappear for my own good & for the good of SRK

What I’ve learnt in the last 18 months (actually several years) of the churn in my own life & of those around me. Only a handful of people matter, those who truly stand by you. Hold them dear. Most relish the downward spiral in lives of others. Sweep them away #MaaNamratanandMayi
Majority is of those who empathise with you for a while & then move on to fight their own battles, big or small. Like you would do vis-a-vis others. Do not judge them coz in doing so you would be judging yourself #MaaNamratanandMayi
So #MaaNamratanandMayi ka ultimate gyaan is: Don’t look for endorsement/validation from others. Live for yourself. Stay relevant for & compete with yourself. Be happy for yourself. Don’t count likes, RTs, followers, “virality” (whatever the heck that is, not virility mind you)...
Sutapa Sikdar’s statement on Irrfan is so beautiful. It makes you hope through the loss...
And I quote...
“How can I write this as a family statement when the whole world is taking it as a personal loss? How can I begin to feel alone when millions are grieving with us at the moment? I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain... 1/n
“I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. It’s a gain of the things he taught us, and now we shall finally begin to truly implement it and evolve. Yet I want to try to fill in the things that people don’t already know. .. 2/n
The real thing to look at is not why X film is there and why Y ain’t. Real issue is the prohibitive fee that producers have to pay for staking a claim at being official Oscar entry for India (Rs 70000 + 18% tax)... Many may not consider it worth it...
Even if they were to get selected there is more money needed for marketing and pitching the film to the academy members ...
And then the insane competition in what #IMHO is the most exciting Oscar category
