Maybe it’s my Jamaican background but I see nothing wrong with hyping the living hell out of your own real achievements. And yet on the left side of American politics there seems to be a real reluctance to do so.
Jamaicans when we just got something done like:
I’m begging democrats: win like a Jamaican

This is what “both sides” as practiced by people like Chuck Todd, Brian Stelter, Jake Tapper, after years of right-wing bullying gets us. This is the ultimate endgame.
Weird we aren’t getting more stories about what a drag the former president is on a gubernatorial candidate, meanwhile Mcauliffe has the support of Presidents Biden and Obama and it’s not a problem but a bonus
Mcauliffe went on tv like: Wheee Obama’s coming to campaign for me! Meanwhile Youngkin’s trying to run away from Trump while courting Trumpism
Fox freaked out that Biden and Harris went to CA for Newsom and then Newsom kicked ass and the mainstream press takeaway was that California didn’t count
This is also why democrats kicking the can on gop fascism is bad. Voters don’t think of the party the way activists do and when the President and Speaker and Majority Leader pretend this is just a quibbling dispute that filters out
When Democratic leaders insist they can work with the good republicans it tells voters that the gop is not the threat they are
“Democrats should ignore this thing in the news that they could use to demonstrate their political position and instead be wonks nobody listens to” is such a consistent thing I hear from liberals here. Please try and get this.
People get informed by what’s in the news. Sometimes it’s stupid shit. It doesn’t matter. An effective political movement attaches their message to whatever vehicle they have.
NFL players did more to bring attention to police brutality than years and years of activists and wonks doing important work. The players allowed the activists a vehicle to deliver a message. This is how this works.
