The Russian elite appears to like penning abusive essays about Ukraine. After Putin, Former Russian president Medvedev published his own hit piece. While significantly shorter than Putin’s, this latest text is arguably even more poisonous, @Biz_Ukraine_Mag atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainea…
"In one borderline antisemitic passage, Medvedev declared, “the current president of this exhausted country is a person of certain ethnic roots,” before going on to compare Zelenskyy to German Jews forced to collaborate with the Nazi regime."
Medvedev goes at length to rant about Ukraine’s “weak and dependent” leadership. Just like Putin, Medvedev argues that Ukraine was currently under the “direct foreign control” of “American patrons” before concluding, “It makes no sense for us to deal with vassals.”
That's utterly bizarre! If it indeed is the strategy of the Kremlin not to engage with the present Ukrainian president and wait until “sane leaders” came to power in Ukraine, then the Kremlin can wait for a very long time...

Imho, the best response to the insulting & inaccurate pieces by Putin&Medvedev comes from @tweetsNV with their cover story last week.
NV looked at the diverging paths of 🇺🇦&🇷🇺 and concluded that the differences between the two countries never was greater than today.
Small 🧵
/1
NV compared the results of sociological research (mostly Levada & KIIS) in Ukraine and Russia and found out that in recent years worldview priorities (how they see the economy & politics) in two countries have changed significantly.
/2
For example, in 🇺🇦, 61 % of people think that market relations should be developed and only 27 % would like to return the planned economy.
In Russia, 62 % seek the return of the planned economy and only 24 % want market relations.

#Ukraine‘s Former President @poroshenko is now officially charged with ‘abuse of office’. If found guilty he could be sentenced for up to 10 yrs in jail. I can assure you that the case has major repercussions and int partners will look into the case 1/ kyivpost.com/ukraine-politi…
The GPO hasn’t yet decided whether Poroshenko, a current MP, will be arrested. I sincerely hope that everyone involved knows that they are playing with fire. A court proceeding could carry significant political cost for #Ukraine and its standing internationally. 2/
Chancellor Merkel has had good relations with Poroshenko. We can only assume that she will follow this case and the other ongoing investigations (I counted more than 10) against Poro’ closely. Is the case against him really rock-solid? 3/
Some more sober thoughts on the short and medium economic repercussions on the decisions to remove #Rjaboshapka and drastically change the Ukrainian cabinet.
the short-term: @LIGAnet, Ukrainian business outlet, reported that @MorganStanley recommended selling Ukrainian government bonds. “We recommend selling Ukraine-2030 Eurobonds and buying Egypt-2031 bonds,” the report stated. So traders are spooked.

As @tashecon, one of the sharpest econ analysts, argues in his op-ed for @KyivPost the 🇺🇦 macroeconomic setting was the best in 30 years. That seems in peril.
Look especially at the IMF-Ukraine relations, how negotiations continue & whether they succeed /3 kyivpost.com/article/opinio…
