.@KyrstenSinema claims the filibuster "protects the democracy of our nation."

Today 4 of Arizona's leading constitutional law experts disagreed in this powerful letter calling on Sinema to reform the filibuster to protect voting rights and our Constitution.

#EndTheFilibuster
To be clear, while I welcome this letter, I reject the call for a carve-out on voting rights or any other sole issue. The filibuster must be abolished or reformed to allow passage of any legislation -- from the Dream Act to the Pro Act, the LGBTQ Equality Act, and so much more.
If you're tired of Sinema's fixation on protecting the filibuster at the expense of our democracy, join Arizona leaders and make a pledge at SinemaPrimaryPledge.com.

If she refuses to vote to end or reform the filibuster this year, your pledge will fund a primary challenger.

Proud to stand with restaurant workers, union members, and community allies from the #PoorPeoplesCampaign, @OneFairWage & more today to demand that @KyrstenSinema vote to pass a $15 minimum wage NOW.

It is essential to COVID relief + a promise that must be kept.

It cannot wait.
Haley Carrera, restaurant worker & @onefairwage AZ organizer, shared her moving story at @kyrstensinema's office today.

She recently came home w/ just $4 in tips. She held on to them as a reminder that she & millions of workers deserve so much more.

$15 with tips is the floor.
Wage Justice is Racial Justice.

One of the most powerful steps America can take toward racial justice right now is raising the minimum wage to $15.

The coronavirus crisis is driving big shifts in public opinion.

A new poll asked voters if it made them *more or less likely to support proposals where all Americans would get their health insurance from the govt.*

Dems: +55
All adults: +29
Moderates: +39
Boomers: +17

Huge.
A data person flagged that my framing of the #'s above is off. It would be better to say that 41% of adults, 59% of Dems, 44% of moderates & 33% of Boomers say they're now more likely to favor proposals for all Americans to get health insurance from govt.

Still a huge deal.

I have a few things to say about the Bernie-Warren conflict and this moment.

THREAD
I want to start by recognizing that if MLK had not been assassinated, he might've turned 91 today. For me, King’s leadership is a North Star. He taught us not about a sterile “civility” but about revolutionary love!
King showed that we can engage in fierce conflict –– marching, sitting in, boycotting, going on strike, shutting it down! –– and still love and respect our opponents: even those who hate and seek to harm us.

This is the El Paso shooter.

Patrick Crusius, a 21 year-old white male Trump supporter whose manifesto says he committed mass murder in “response to [the] Hispanic invasion of Texas.”

This is white supremacist terror.

It's part of a pattern.

And Trump is complicit.
@outsider609 I don't say that Trump is complicit lightly.

But it is, I believe, a truth we must tell. And hold him, and the GOP that aids and abets him, accountable for.
@outsider609 Trump is complicit in this crime because he has––with rhetoric AND policy––stoked extreme fear of Latino immigrants, dehumanized them & others, imposed state violence, encouraged civilian violence, and emboldened white supremacists.

THREAD

I was among the 24 West Virginians arrested yesterday at the #ToxicRockwool construction site, with some 400 of our neighbors rallying nearby to protect our home from toxic, coal & fracked gas-fueled heavy industry.

#StandAgainstRockwool
This movement to #StopRockwool is a beautiful one. If we make yesterday’s huge step just one among many in a journey that mobilizes thousands to stand courageously together, we will win. I’m grateful for everyone who showed up & especially all who worked hard to make it happen.
A special thank you to sister Sammi Brown @SeeSammiRun — the People’s Delegate! — for sitting in with us and showing what a movement leader in elected office looks like.
