I was among the 24 West Virginians arrested yesterday at the #ToxicRockwool construction site, with some 400 of our neighbors rallying nearby to protect our home from toxic, coal & fracked gas-fueled heavy industry.

This movement to #StopRockwool is a beautiful one. If we make yesterday’s huge step just one among many in a journey that mobilizes thousands to stand courageously together, we will win. I’m grateful for everyone who showed up & especially all who worked hard to make it happen.

Finally, I know some of y’all are tired of me getting arrested. I’m tired of doing it, but I’m more tired of injustice, of people in my family, my community, our nation, and this world being treated like they don’t matter so the wealthy few can reign untroubled.

I’ll keep using every nonviolent tool in the movement toolbox as long I have the privilege to breathe and serve. It’s a special gift to my soul to be of service in this way, at this time, to the community that raised me.

Many hands make lighter work. When millions of Americans are willing to go to jail for justice (and organize along the way), change will come quick. Forward together, till everyone can sing “almost heaven” about their home and know it’s true.
