The first ever formal mosque in Germany was opened during the course of 1st World War and it was built just in 2 weeks time by the Germans to encourage and prepare Muslims to wage JEHAD against the enemies of the Germany.
Germans had setup various camps for the prisoners of war but for Muslims they setup a separate camp and named it Halbmondlager (Half-moon/Crescent) at the outskirts of Berlin.
Special sermons were arranged to preach Jehad among these PoW.
Eid-Ul-Azha that year was a great spectacle in Germany. Muslim PoW were provided with everything that the Germans thought could win favor with them so that they volunteer to wage a holy war on behalf of Germany and the Ottomans against their enemies.
Special paper titled "El DSCHIHAD" - Al-Jehad used to get published & distributed among the Muslim PoW.
Jihad was holy then, it was holy in WWII, it was holy against the Soviets in AFG but somehow it has become unholy now among those who wanted Muslims to fight for their causes.
Since "Jehad" didn't resonate with the non-Muslim Indians so the Urdu & Hindi one was titled Hindostan.
Note Allama Iqbal's famous couplet from his poem on the top of the paper.
Photo of the six Pashtuns who were recruited by the Ottoman and Germans to provide escort to the joint mission that they sent to Afghanistan to convince Amir Habibullah Khan to side with the Muslims and wage Jehad against the British in India.
Not only that the mission failed so did the Ottoman-German alliance suffered a defeat.
Anyways, the first mosque that was constructed in Germany on the outskirts of Berlin was demolished in 1930 - just 15 years of its construction.
Correction: The mosque was built in *5 Weeks.
The Ottoman-German mission aka the Niedermayer-Hentig-Expedition though failed to achieve its objective but it did left its influence on many in Afghanistan including Amanullah Khan who then on the conclusion of WWI did wage Jihad against the British.
Interestingly, Nazi-Germany had also encouraged and funded Jihad against the British. They also supported return of Amanullah Khan to the throne of Kabul.
A thread on the spiritual teacher and guide of Ahmad Shah Durrani whose influence and teachings contributed to what Ahmad Shah Durrani ultimately became i.e., the Dur-e-Durran and the king of Afghanistan!
Pir Sabir Shah Lahori and Ahmad Shah Abdali is said to have first met during the reign of Nadir Shah of Persia in the city of Mashhad. Ahmad Shah Abdali was at the time in the service of Nadir Shah and Pir Sabir Shah Lahori was visiting there as well at the time.
It is said that Ahmad Shah Abdali took leave from his work to visit the shrine of Imam Raza. When he arrived at the shrine of Imam Raza he saw that someone has erected a small tent there in the manner of the children to play there.
Feeling encouraged by the recent UK court decision in a defamation case involving politicians of Pakistan, I want to weigh if there are any precedents where state broadcasters in the UK were held to account over plagiarism?
It was on Saqlain Imam for the most part and less on the BBC initially but seeing the edits I am further disappointed. BBC Urdu think it is fine to reproduce and re-narrate the exact same story, with the exact same references that I used and claim it as their own.
Photo of Atuallah Ozai-Durrani from his lab, excerpt from the PhD work of John. K. Biden, reference to the news story in NYT, excerpt of and reference to his patent among other things is all that I mentioned in my thread and yet the editors at BBC Urdu believe that it's fine to
Indo-Pak war of 1965, and the role of Afghanistan & Afghans!
When Indian Airforce was bombing Peshawar and Kohat, at the same time militants of Pashtunistan, backed by Afghan & Indian govt, were attacking Pak army in Waziristan - acc. to the state news media of AFG.
Pashtunistan was a joint project of India & AFG with which both countries sought to achieve their own goals, and violence to materialize this project began right from the very early years of Pak independence.
Read here about the background & details. twitter.com/search?q=Pasht…
Pashtunistan's militancy continued even through 1960s. The Royal Afghan Embassy of London published details of the violence against Pak by their backed Pashtunistanis against Pak installations & military.
The papers records 20 incidents (of attacks, bomb blasts) in June, 1961.
#OTD in September 1879, The Afghan troops mutinied and killed the British envoy Louis Cavagnari at Kabul. along with his 70-men escort, and their bodies were dumped in a mass grave.
The murder of Cavagnari sparked the 2nd phase of the 2nd-Anglo-Afghan war - a war that the British
started for no good reason but only out of their colonial pride, ego and greed. There is no explanation till this date that what faults of the Afghans angered the British so much that it merited an invasion of their country, for a 2nd time in 40 years.
After their success against an unprepared Afghan army, the British signed a 'friendly' agreement that otherwise is quite notorious & disliked by the Afghans and is known as #TreatyOfGandamak.
The murder of the British envoy wounded the ego of the British.
Congrats to the party of freeloaders! This party already made a record of pre-election fraud, exploited blood of Pashtuns for their 'Inqelabi' politics, & stabbed the very people in the back after hijacking Pashtun movement to try to revive their otherwise dead political careers.
The 'senior' leaders of this new party had never won any elections in their whole political careers but have used the NGO-washing machine to cleanse themselves off of their crimes, and since then have milked one or the other political party to get senate or reserved seats.
It is not that old story that the 'young' leader tried to charm the ex-wife of Imran Khan, while she was still relevant in the politics and was still IK's wife, to win favors with the PTI leadership.
That attempt didn't work out for the reasons well known in Pak politics.
British, Ranjit Singh & Shah Shuja all had their own interests in invading AFG in the 1st Anglo-Afghan war (1839-42).
A rarely known story of that war is that the doors of a revered tomb in AFG were removed & brought to India under the orders of the then Gov. Gen. Ellenborough.
That tomb was of Mahmood of Ghazna, and it's doors were believed be of the revered temple of Somnath in India, and that there were brought 800 yrs ago to Ghazni Afghanistan, and later were installed at the tomb of Mahmood Ghaznavi.
