True but much of it is a demand issue. Normal people aren’t interested in coverage of Beltway politics so media coverage is oriented toward insiders, political junkies, and other journalists, who care about process (which also creates more “news”).
Some make policy stakes more clear / center policy substance but often the exception (like Dan’s excellent coverage) not the rule

Despite @ezraklein's constructive intervention, the great Dem messaging debate is one of the worst in recent memory on the bird site. So many cases of people talking past each other, changing the premises of the argument, attacking straw men, & assuming the worst of others. Sigh
