I like how the direction here makes it clear with very little effort that Grethe's been stringing Shin along repeatedly. Of course, just after we Shin flunk his Vanargandr training, we immediately segue into learning about the Feldreß that would replace it... #eightysix

If you've been following my threads since last season, you'll remember how I've been talking about Lena's box with the Processors was foreshadowing. Well, that was because of this; They really do get a glass case to sleep in forever in. #eightysix

Shin's gaze is downward and seems to not look at anything, Eugene's is upturned and looks to the window. Eugene has plans for his sister, for his future. Shin asks if maybe he was better off not drafting. #eightysix

To him, people who see the future have no place in the army. Which, given that Shin actively chose to return to the army, says a lot. #eightysix

Shin noticing the Legion before the siren goes off is a good touch. #eightysix

And once again, Shin has to make a friend only to end up burying them. He's had so many close calls with the other four members, even Fido came back from the dead, but this is a wake-up call. War never changes. #eightysix

Marcel was Eugene's friend, and seeing him die puts him in the anger and bargaining stages of grief. He's mad at Shin for not being there to save Shin, as if he can be everywhere and do everything at once. I can't fault him, he just saw his friend's body. #eighysix

Shin being separated from Marcel and his commander by the wreckage of Eugene's unit is a lot. #eightysix

Yeah... Makes sense. The pistol defines this episode. #eightysix
