NSW recorded 265 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

One new case was acquired overseas, and seven cases have been excluded following further investigation. The total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic is 71,469.
Sadly, NSW Health is today reporting the deaths of five people with COVID-19 – four women and one man.

A woman in her 30s from the Cessnock area died at John Hunter Hospital. She was not vaccinated and had underlying health conditions.
A man in his 50s from Sydney’s Inner West died at Concord Hospital. He was not vaccinated and had underlying health conditions.

A woman in her 60s from Sydney’s Inner West died at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She was not vaccinated.
A woman in her 70s from south western Sydney died at Concord Hospital. She had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health conditions.
A woman in her 80s from the Wollongong area died at Wollongong Hospital. She had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health conditions.

NSW Health extends its sincere condolences to their loved ones.
There have been 475 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021 and 531 in total since the start of the pandemic.

There have been 65,786 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
There are currently 606 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 132 people in intensive care, 71 of whom require ventilation.

There were 60,273 COVID-19 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 69,107.
To 11.59pm on Saturday 16 October 2021 across NSW, 92 per cent of people aged 16 and over had received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 80.3 per cent were fully vaccinated.
In the 12-15 year old age group, 74.5 per cent have had their first dose, and 34 per cent are fully vaccinated.
The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 11,644,223, with 3,910,844 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 7,733,379 administered by the GP network, pharmacies and other providers to 11.59pm on Saturday 16 October 2021.
Of the 265 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 65 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 63 are from Hunter New England LHD, 33 are from Western Sydney LHD, 21 are from Sydney LHD, 18 are from Murrumbidgee LHD, -
18 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD, 16 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, 10 are from Central Coast LHD, 5 are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, 5 are from Southern NSW LHD, 4 are from Northern Sydney LHD, 2 are from Western NSW LHD, -
1 is from Northern NSW LHD, 1 is in a correctional setting, and 3 are yet to be assigned to an LHD.
If you are directed to get tested for COVID 19 or self-isolate at any time, you must follow the rules whether or not the venue or exposure setting is listed on the NSW Health website.
It remains vital that anyone who has any symptoms or is a close or casual contact of a person with COVID-19, isolates and is tested immediately. -
When testing clinics are busy, please ensure you stay in line, identify yourself to staff and tell them that you have symptoms or are a contact of a case.
Please check the NSW Government website regularly, and follow the relevant health advice if you have attended a venue of concern or travelled on a public transport route at the same time as a confirmed case of COVID-19. -
This list is being updated regularly as case investigations proceed.

Sadly, NSW Health is today reporting the deaths of 10 people with COVID-19 – five women and five men.

Changes to Public Health Orders for NSW Residents who enter ACT for work or medical care

An exemption has been made to the public health order tonight to make life easier for NSW residents who enter the ACT for work or medical care.
NSW residents who have been in the ACT for work, to receive medical care, or to accompany someone receiving treatment will now no longer have to complete a declaration or follow stay at home rules after they return to NSW.
Everyone else entering NSW after being in the ACT will need to complete a declaration and follow the stay at home rules.

One new case was acquired overseas and one was acquired interstate in the same period, bringing the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 68,523.
Sadly, NSW Health is reporting the deaths of six men who had COVID-19. Two were in their 50s, one in their 60s, and three in their 70s.

One was from western Sydney, one from south eastern Sydney, two from south western Sydney, and two from southern New South Wales.
