🧵 Senate Dems just introduced nine appropriations bills as part of Biden's spending package.

These bills represent the Senate's biggest expansion of taxpayer funding of abortion in history.

Here's what the package of bills would do:

1️⃣ Does NOT include longstanding bipartisan Hyde protections. The Hyde Amendment and its family of pro-life riders stop taxpayer funded abortion at home and abroad.

If Hyde protections are not explicitly included, then funds appropriated can be used to pay for abortions.

2️⃣ Codifies removal of the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance Act (PLGHA), which was instituted by President Trump and stops U.S. taxpayer funding of the abortion industry overseas.

3️⃣ Removes the Hyde-Weldon Amendment, which stops discrimination against healthcare orgs and workers that choose not to commit or promote abortion.

4️⃣ Requires health facilities that receive Title X family planning funds to provide abortion counseling and referrals, in addition to increasing Title X funding by 75%.

5️⃣ Removes the Dornan Amendment, which stops taxpayer funding of abortion in the Washington, D.C.

6️⃣ Removes the Smith Amendment, which ensures your tax dollars cannot be used to pay for abortions for federal employees.

7️⃣ Guts the Kemp-Kasten Amendment, which stops U.S. tax dollars from funding organizations that support or participate in coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.

8️⃣ Increases funding by over $20 million for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which has actively partnered with some of the worst human rights abusers in the world, like China and North Korea.

Senate Dems are removing these commonsense pro-life provisions against the will of the majority of Americans:

➡️ 77% of Americans oppose using taxpayer dollars to promote abortion overseas

➡️ 58% oppose using tax dollars to fund abortions in the U.S.

.@SenatorLeahy's calls for bipartisanship ring hollow as he introduces bills that scrap several strong pro-life protections, including the Hyde Amendment, which has enjoyed broad bipartisan consensus for over four decades.

Abortion is violence against the most innocent, not ‘health care,’ and Americans should never be forced to be complicit.
