THREAD: The lives of six Palestinian political prisoners on hunger strike are in grave danger.

The six imprisoned Palestinians are on a lengthy hunger strike—between 51 and 90 days each—protesting their administrative detention by Israel.
Administrative detention—meaning indefinite imprisonment without charge or trial—is commonly used by Israel to torment Palestinians in custody and punish their families on the outside.
The six Palestinians are: Miqdad Al-Qawasameh, 24, Alaa Al-Araj, 34, Hisham Ismail Abu Hawasheh, 39, Rayeq Sadiq Bisharat, 45, and Shadi Abu Akar, 37.
The imprisoned Palestinians have been punished by Israeli prison guards for their protest. They’ve been held in solitary confinement and refused use of the restroom, deprived of their basic rights and humanity.
As the health of the six detainees deteriorates rapidly, other imprisoned Palestinian men and women have begun their own hunger strikes in a show of solidarity.
Human rights groups have called for an end to Israel’s illegal administrative detention practice, but the state continues to use it on Palestinians indiscriminately

Guess who’s left out of the conversation about reopening the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem? 🧐
Discussing Palestinians without Palestinians is the equivalent of an all-white task force on racial justice. Laughable. Absurd. Dangerous.
Jerusalem is an occupied city under international law, and Trump’s decision to move the U.S. embassy there should be seen for what it is: a flagrant attempt to deny Palestinians the right to the city they call home.

THREAD: Israel is moving to further expropriate vast swaths of Jerusalem, all while the U.S. provides diplomatic cover.
Yesterday, while Israeli Foreign Minister Lapid was meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Blinken, Israel approved plans to move forward with thousands of housing units in occupied East Jerusalem.
One of the approved plans would entirely cut off the large Palestinian village of Beit Safafa from the rest of occupied East Jerusalem, completely surrounding it with illegal Israeli settlements.

Today marks the 21st anniversary of the start of the Second Intifada, the Palestinian uprising against Israel's illegal occupation & apartheid.

Here is what happened 21 years ago:
Former Israeli "Defense" Minister & war criminal Ariel Sharon (who, according to an Israeli commission, bears "personal responsibility" for the 1982 massacres of Sabra & Shatila), intruded on Al-Aqsa, Palestinians' holiest Muslim site in Jerusalem, w/1,000 heavily armed soldiers.
The intrusion led to a confrontation with unarmed Palestinian demonstrators at the Noble Sanctuary, and resulted in several unarmed Palestinians being killed, triggering the 2nd intifada. But that was only the last straw after years of Israeli brutality and land theft.

THREAD: Last week, after voting to send another $1 billion to the Israeli military, Congress also passed the “National Defense Authorization Act,” a bill that contains alarming provisions for supporters of human rights for Palestinians.
But before all the bad, @RepRashida, @repmarkpocan, and @RepAOC introduced an amendment to block the $735 million weapons deal between Boeing and the Israeli military. Unfortunately, the amendment was ruled out of the final bill.
The following concerning amendments were passed with bipartisan support, once again showing Congress’ hostility to Palestinian rights despite growing support from voters across the political spectrum. For a complete list check out @LaraFriedmanDC:

THREAD: After progressives in Congress knocked down an additional $1 billion in military funding to Israel from a larger spending bill, conservative Democrats are introducing a new stand-alone bill to send an additional $1 billion to Israel to further fund its “Iron Dome.”
The #IronDome is a missile interceptor system developed by Israel and funded by U.S. taxpayers. It works to enforce Israel’s siege and blockade of Gaza.
In addition to the $3.8 billion in military funding that the U.S. provides Israel each year, the U.S. has already given approximately $1.7 billion to Israel for its Iron Dome.

THREAD: 6 Things to Know About the Iron Dome Funding Controversy

The efforts of progressives in Congress to stop Democratic and Republican leaders from giving another $1 billion in military funding to Israel have triggered an avalanche of misinformation and misdirection.
1) No Blank Check: Israel already receives $3.8 billion in U.S. military funding every year (more than any other country on the planet), and Israel’s “Iron Dome” is already funded to the tune of $1.7 billion.
Progressives are saying NO to a major increase of $1 billion in the already unjustifiable military funding to Israel.
