#bitcoin became the first open source space-ready infrastructure after @Blockstream connected the most powerful monetary network to 5 satellites. 🛰

Here’s a thread 🧵 with some daylight pics and insights of my #bitcoin Satellite Full Node setup. /1

On the hardware side, I first removed my old DirectTV LNB and replaced it with the GeoSat Pro included in @Blockstream’s Satellite Pro Kit.

The kit includes screws and bolts but I used some clothing clips to showcase how easy it can be to fit the hardware. /2

Next, to correctly align the dish with #Bitcoin’s South American Satellite, I used an Android App called “Satellite Director”. 📡

I found the app to be one of the best ones out there.

Just make sure that you currently calibrate your phone’s compass before you start. /3 🧭

On to the receiver. The Novra S400 comes with the Satellite Pro Kit.

Signal from LNB in the dish 📡 goes directly via Coax Cable to the RF1 port.

I then connected the Novra S400 device via Ethernet to my router. This way, you’ll be able to access the it by WiFi! /4

You will now need to configure your Novra S400 from a laptop running Ubuntu or a Linux variant.

To do so, follow the user guide for setting up Satellite setups published by @Blockstream here:

The default IP address to access the Novra S400 receiver is 192.169.1.2

Type the IP address in your Internet browser.

If you correctly aligned the dish using the Satellite Director App, you should be able to see a Green Dot 🟢 next to “RF1 Lock” at the top! /6
