I was personally harmed by what CVS (Caremark) did here. Tomorrow I’ll be digging up the paperwork to post to show evidence of them trying to force/taper me down. They didn’t just use the cdc acute gls, they did a 50 mme limit for even “legacy” CP patients.
And then after an entire month w/o my meds, they decided to only cover half of my OxyContin, meaning I’d be able to take it once a day. Again, this was based on MME thresholds created by the cdc opinion-based guidelines for initiation of opioids in the PCP setting….🤦🏻♀️
I was forced to change my rx to ir generic oxycodone and pay out of pocket. That remains to this day. I have visceral reactions thinking about the whole incident. I was forced to be on the phone for days while in pain and wd to advocate for myself.
My MDs office spend hours dealing with this, going beyond what most would do. After two appeals were made to the PBM Caremark, I contacted the local bcbs office and asked to speak w/the nurse. She said the only way out of this was to have my MD lie and say I was terminal.
Keep in mind I had just been tapered months before this (from 320mg to 60) by PM due to the CMS change that my Dr said would also affect private insurance coverage.
